release by Harlequin Special Edition series.
Olive Downing wanted to turn her Victorian house into a
B&B but it was an old building and there were many issues with it.
Cal Pope was a firefighter so he knew fire hazards when he saw
it. And he pointing out the hazards in her old building didn’t endear him to
Olive. Why was he being so stubborn about everything? But then she saw the soft
side to his gruff exterior.
THE HERO NEXT DOOR is a sweet romance. Author Carrie Nichols did
a marvelous job of bringing these two characters together for their happy ever
despite their emotional baggage. This contemporary romance combines, heat,
heart and hope into a magic blend that readers would savor.
Recommended for all readers of romance.

Set in a small town in Vermont this story was sweet and moving as Olive Downing finds the happiness that she has always craved with neighbour Cal Pope of course there are a few hurdles to overcome before they find their HEA but of course that is all the fun in a romance, I do hope that you come along for the journey.
Olive spent a lot of years living is foster homes and a family of her own has been top of her must have list, she did think she had it at one stage but that didn’t happen then she won a beautiful old Victorian house in a raffle in the small town of Loon Lake, here she has a good job is making new friends and dreaming of opening up a B & B but when she meets neighbour, Cal firefighter he is gruff and puts her dreams on hold.
Cal moved away from Loon Lake after everything that had happened, he spent some years in the air force but is now back as a firefighter and finding a HEA is not on the cards he will never settle down, then he meets his new neighbour Olive and the walls he has built around his heart are breaking down.
This is a lovely story Olive and Cal start off on the wrong foot with their first meeting but when Cal jumps in to rescue Olive a few times and then surprises her with rescued kittens Olive’s heart is falling deeply for this caring man even though she knows that is the last think he wants. A great story that had me cheering them one to a most beautiful HEA.
