I truly love Michelle Montebello’s stories, she digs deep emotionally, brings out feelings that run through the story line and brings us heart-felt, beautiful and moving stories and this one is a fabulous read, she takes in issues that cause many people heartache ,and shows the strength and courage that comes along with hope and love. I do hope that you come along and get to know Marley as she finds her forever place.
Marley Kinkaid is a top criminal lawyer, following in her father’s footsteps she defends some very tough hard people and does it well, but when she does so well and gets someone off her life changes, her working hours are long and hard and the people she works with crave a break from all of that and find it in alcohol and recreational drugs and Marley is no different.
Her life is a roller coaster of work and drinking but when she hits rock bottom and someone is hurt her sister Anna decides that Marley needs to get away and dry out and find her way in life again and sends her to an island, White Cedar of the coast of Nova Scotia In the North Atlantic Ocean, this island is known as a blue zone were people live longer and happier lives, living a vegan lifestyle. Getting sober is not going to be easy will the quiet of the island and the people who live there be what Marley needs?
Marley is there for two weeks and the first few days are hard but her landlady Noelle encourages her and then she meets Lachlan and it is not long before two weeks is not enough Marley wants more time here, feeling better every day and getting closer to Lachlan is helping. Counting her sober days is good, being open with Lachlan not so easy but she is losing her heart to him but will she have the strength to give up her life in Melbourne to take on this quiet one on White Cedar Island? So many questions for Marley.
Forgiveness must come from Marley herself first and with the support and help of Noelle on this beautiful island Marley grows well and more confident every day, add Lachlan and the love that is growing stronger everyday gives her more strength, but will their relationship work? But being an alcoholic, it doesn’t take much to fall, getting back up is a must and a lot of courage and strength is needed for this.
This is another awesome book from Michelle Montebello, she has such a magical way with words as she brings her flawed characters to life and gets them over hurdles, helps them find love and happiness and a joy that is everlasting and giving so much joy to the reader as well, I loved the characters in this one they add so much to Marley’s journey. I do highly recommend this book it is a must read, heart-warming and beautiful, I loved it.
