The Maverick Doctor and Miss Prim/About That Night

The Maverick Doctor and Miss Prim (Rebels with a Cause)

Dr. Matt Sawyer is angry at the world. Six years ago he lost the love of his life. His wife Helen had gone on a field mission with the DPA “Disease Prevention Agency”. Not knowing she was pregnant, she suffered an Ectopic pregnancy and died before the team could get her help. So for six years he has avoided most everything in life including his own family.

Covering for a friend Matt is working the E.R. in a Chicago Hospital when he goes in to check on two brothers suspected of having chickenpox. He soon realizes this is much more than chickenpox. Believing he is dealing with two cases of Smallpox he is forced to be right back in contact with the DPA.

Dr. Callie Turner was the one to take the call from Matt Sawyer and it will be her to deal with this rebel Doctor. But Callie is no pushover, she is a by the book, follow protocol, dot your I’s and cross your T’s kind of Doctor. She also is grieving the lost of a loved one. And while she has spent 11 years training for her job at the DPA. It is not her dream she is fulfilling.

Of course you are going to get two strong willed people butting heads but you also are going to get just what these two needed in life, each other. Without giving too much away I recommend this book and also About That Night. It deals with Matt’s Sister Violet and Evan Hunter who both work at the DPA. But we get an update on both Matt and Callie.

About That Night
The Maverick Doctor and Miss Prim/About That Night

We first met Dr. Evan Hunter and Dr. Violet Connelly in the book The Maverick Doctor and Miss Prim. I am so happy that Scarlet Wilson wrote their story. And what an emotionally one it is. The last few chapters are just be gut wrenching.

Violet has been living in her own private hell for three years now. Only a few close friends know exactly how much she has suffered. After the stress of dealing with Evan’s vendetta against her brother and the growing attraction she feels for Evan she puts in for a transfer from the Atlanta office of the DPA.

Evan Hunter has always thought that Matt Sawyer was at fault for Helen’s death. He always believed Matt had to have known his wife was pregnant. But really deep down Evan blames himself for Helen’s death. As team leader he felt he should have asked more questions when Helen said she was not feeling 100 percent and maybe the tragedy that took Helen’s life could have been avoided. Now Evan has been sent to Africa to head up another team. Also on this team none other than Violet.

Sent to Africa, they will be trying to administer Polio vaccines in an attempt to make polio extinct. But neither one of these two can forget the passionate kiss they shared months ago. Soon they are sharing more than a kiss.

This is more than just a romance story. It shows two people coming to grips with things that happened from their past. It also shows forgiveness, growth, compassion and strength. I recommend both this and the first book in the series. Both can be stand alone novels but I think they are better if read together.
