A Bride For The Runaway Groom by Scarlet Wilson

Reviewed by Desere

Everyone knows the standard joke of any wedding, the bride of groom taking off ! Now as funny as that sounds ( I mean who actually really wants to run away from their wedding day, okay lots of people but it's still a little funny to think about), it still involves a lot of heartache and drama and what if's are always left unanswered.

Of course in the world of romance writing just about anything and everything can and will happen to make it all come back together and shine bright like a a wedding day diamond! In this new read from author Scarlet Wilson it happens and in spectacular Scarlet Wilson fashion.

We meet elusive millionaire Will Carter, he has been almost married four times, yes you read that right I said four times! This little burst-my-bubble-that's-a-lot of almost's makes him pretty much the perfect candidate for helping Rose Huntingdon-Cross organize a wedding.

But as time goes by the heart-stopping attraction between then grows with each passing moment and soon Rose finds herself wishing she could be lucky number five. She finds that getting Will to the altar is the easy part getting him to stay there and say I do is the part she knows will make or break their relationship.

This was a truly magical read, romance with pure bliss. Heartfelt and gut wrenching emotion had me reaching for tissues for pretty much almost the entire read. I loved the character of Rose, fun and funky whilst still keeping her pose as a woman on a mission to prove her worth.

And Will, ah sweet , kind, caring and totally hopelessly lost Will, what a man ! I wanted to strangle him one minute and the next I could kiss him to death. I adored the author letting this hero find his true emotions and letting them erupt right at the precise moment  I as reader wanted it to.

A sweet, sensual and heart-stoppingly beautiful read that is guaranteed to send any reader's heart into a flutter.

Love can be infectious, so much so that some people crave the feeling of love so badly they go looking for it once they've lost it, all in an attempt to have that super high feeling again.

In the new read from to die for fabulous medical romance author Scarlet Wilson we meet Dr. Grace Barclay, one second she's sitting at her desk and the next she's naked in the decontamination showers with the one and the only notorious sex god Donovan Reid! Not anyone's typical day at the office huh?!

The chemistry between them is hotter than the Sahara desert, so when Grace is assigned to Donavan's team she has to know her stuff in order to remain cool and calm and of course not want to strip Donavan naked right there in front of the rest of the team, the man is her boss for goodness sake, so a dismissal will for darn sure be in the cards!

It does also however give her the chance to show off her knowledge and impress for the right reasons, but resisting Donavan is so hard , so very hard,. It's her career or the playboy she's fallen in love with that comes with a feeling of such intense proportions nothing else can compare , but which to chose?

I am totally addicted to this author's books. Not once have a I picked up a book by her and felt disappointed or let down. She creates these intense perfect characters with so many amazing levels of emotion it blows my mind time and time again.

This time she did it again but the difference for me was that she did it even better than ever before! The character of Donavan was so intense and so hot the man sent my heart fluttering and for the first time in a Scarlet Wilson book I wanted to very badly and with all my heart be the heroine.

I loved this man to bits! He had so many wonderful levels of consideration it melted my heart! The character of Grace was equally wonderfully written, I loved her spunk when it came to wanting so badly to prove she could do her job and do it well!

I am taking away a special message from this book, everyone has someone they want to protect,. Their reasons might not always be known to us, but the reasons are there. But it does not mean we can give up in wanting to know the reasons. So if you find yourself craving the forbidden take a risk, get down and dirty if you have to but make sure you learn those secrets because you never know what lies on the other side, it could just be the happiest part of your life. And never let your career stand in the way of your happiness, meeting the right person only happens once and as careers go , there are plenty out there and hey everyone has more than one talent!

I recommend this fabulous simply too good to be missed read for all fans of the Harlequin Medical Romance line, written by one of the most talented authors out there!

The Heir to the Castle by Scarlet Wilson

This was a very enjoyable read, with lots of nice and heartfelt romance. We have Callan who suddenly has to make decisions about inheritance, and he is so not ready for it. But life deals cards we all have to deal with and he does just this.

Only his perfect plan to get the help of lawyer Laurie to make things go according to plan goes wrong in the most delightful of ways. He falls for her hook line and sinker, and Laurie not only falls for him but she falls in love with the magic of the Annick Castle.

Only the place is meant to be sold right, Callan wants to move on and Laurie has her life in London right ? No, no and no again! The author did a great job at showing how two people not only find heaven in each others arms but happiness in a place neither one ever thought of as home.

I enjoyed the characters, they were well written quite the delight to read. The book had sweet and tender romance and very good emotion.  The character of Callan reminded me that we think we need to get rid of certain things in life but when the time comes and we do let go, what about the memories?

Those never fade, they will always stay with us, so letting go of something simply because you don't want to deal with the memories, you should rather create new memories to replace the bad ones, or no matter where you go the memories will just follow you and eventually send you into despair and regret for not dealing with it head on.

The character of Laurie was pure mischief, I really liked her very much. She gave the read that special kind of " This is romance and life " feel over and over again . And through this character the author showed just how good a new, fresh start can be the one thing that puts life into perspective for us.

I recommend this read for fans who like good, heartfelt and emotional reads with lots of sweet and tender emotion.

Have you ever thought about what it would be like to be famous? I have and I must tell you looking at the stories from the press I usually see I always look at the faces of the celebrities and think how happy they look or just how much of a show they are trying to put on for the world.

Because behind the fancy clothes, killers smiles and acts of fame are actual people just like you and me. They hurt and get angry just like the rest of us, they have bad days and good days. But for their fans they are these major celebs and are seen more like dolls then humans.

In the new Scarlet Wilson read she takes a look at the life of the famous Lexi. Only she is not famous for making it big time in any of the millions of entertainment areas out there. No, she is famous for being the ditsy daughter of her very own celebrity family.

This of course makes it so much worse then being a celebrity based on something you did all on your own. People look at you to see if you will make it big time like your parents did , or will you become like most children to the famous, a washout that goes from party to party every day?

So naturally I was delighted to discover  that the author let's Lexi try to make her own way to the top. She does so by attempting to corner I'll operate on you all night long Dr Iain McKenzie. But Iain is not into her games and does not want to go from diamond in the rough to famous drool over me Dr.

Lexi however is determined but, when her own secrets are threatening to spill out she needs to back down , if only she could bring herself to do it, pushing for the finish line is her end goal and backing down is not an option.

I loved this story! It was really heartbreaking and very emotional and brought me to tears. I felt so extremely sorry for both characters and their past that I honestly wanted to reach out and hug them both just to let them know someone is there and someone cares.

The character of Iain was a hero above hero's. His acceptance of "I deserve this pain" was very touching, wrong of course because the blame is not his, but it showed him as we all are. We want to blame ourselves just because it will help us to block any future pain, when we don't interact with others we cannot cause pain again and therefor we can continue to live in our own little world of hurt.

The character of Lexi was a real go-getter, she has a fighting spirit because of her past yet, at the same time she's broken and just like a celebrity she hides her pain.  It showed me that all celebrities are just human and they definitely do whatever they can to hide their hurt, whereas us non famous people might  not worry about the tears that fall, they need to think about things such as " What if the press snaps me when I am crying? What will the headline be?.

I am taking away a message of holding up a pretense simply to hide your pain is not what is needed, it is not the way to heal. Letting it all out and depending on others to help you through the hurt and anger might not completely heal the wounds but, with support you will be a lot closer to feeling normal again then if you were to hold it all back simply to try and show the world you are a "doll".

I recommend this read for all fans of Scarlet Wilson reads, an emotional look into the life of being famous vs human.

Lots of people have traveled the world only to end up in a place where you fall so head over heals in love with it all , you decide to stay.

But this new life does of course not always turn out the way you pictured it, among-st the glittering lights and vibrancy of Manhattan the heroine from this read finds hiding her heartache is far less easy than she thought.

Carrie climbs the highest of heights but fails to gain a smile from her sexy neighbor Dan but when fate or rather a little bundle of joy brings her up close and personal she is in for a whole lot more than just a smile.

Only her pain and sorrow stays hidden, something that Dan intends to bring out into the open, but cracking the tough nut that is Carrie proves easier said than done.

I loved. loved, loved this story to bits. It was one of those perfect romances that just had everything falling into place! My mind would conjure up the outcome or the say this or do that and it would happen!  Yes, to some readers this might sound a little too predictable but to me it was a really nice way of picking up on just how much the author knows her audience.

A story written to show sadness can be turned into something so beautiful it will teach you a lifetime of lessons. The character of Dan was very awesome, I really liked that he is so much in touch with everyone around him, always doing good or trying to save someone. It showed him as I think everyone in life should be, for when doing good let's face it, you might not get rich from it but you will be loved and that is the best reward there is!

The character of Carrie was very, very sad. And at first I thought she was going to be one of those heroines that has so many or such strong issues that it would take forever for the hero to bring her around and into the open, but that author surprised me by letting the character flow very easy and I found her road to happiness very intriguing.

The backdrop settings were so, so, so romantic and sent my heart all into a flutter! The dialogue used by the author was one that I found delightful mixed with just a hint of playful and lots of sweet sensual heat.

I am taking away a message of connections with lots of people will come and go, it's part of life but when that one true magical connection comes that is so strong and overpowering, don't panic and run. Grab it with both hands and never ever let go!

English Girl in New YorkReviewed by Nancy Crocker

English Girl in New York: When New York is hit with an early blizzard it brings together two neighbors, and one abandoned baby. This book touched on so many emotions. It had me laughing out loud as many times as it had me crying buckets of tears.

Carrie McKenzie is in New York working and trying to forget her past. The one thing she can’t handle is finding an abandoned baby on the doorstep of her apartment building. Panicked, she knocks on her neighbor’s door for help.

Officer Dan Cooper is home, after breaking his wrist earlier in the day. He is shocked to see Carrie at his front door with a baby. He knows he needs to help, but he has no experience with an infant. So he talks Carrie into staying to help him with the baby.

Scarlet does an amazing job with the emotions of these two. I felt shattered when I read what brought Carrie to the United States. The characters were very well written, as well as the scenes. The plotline was believable. The ending was a little rushed for the timeline set in the story. But this is still a book worth reading.

I highly recommend this book to romance readers, just make sure you have some Kleenex too!

There were a number of really humorous exchanges between the hero and heroine. Here is one of my favorites:

‘How can all that stuff come from one tiny little thing?’ He really wanted to pinch his nose shut.
Carrie was shaking her head, too, as she made a dive for the baby wipes. ‘I have no idea, but the next one is yours.’

Not all highschool sweethearts relationships last, sometimes fate has other plans. You might go your separate ways never to meet again or you might just find yourself back in each others arms one day.

But to be re-united is not as easy as one, two, three. You have both changed as the years have passed and getting use to each other again is easy enough but scars from the years passed can cause a barrier that is so unbreakable that in the end giving up is simply easier.

In the new read from author Scarlet Wilson this is exactly what happens for Jessica and Callum, re-united after both stepping in to help save the lives of children in danger.

Callum is not so sure he wants any woman to be apart of his son's life only to have them take off and leave his son heartbroken once again. But ultimately he is forced to deal with it and it goes off without a major hitch. The real problem is Jessica, Callum is concerned about the once bright, sunny and full of life woman he knew, who now works every single waking minute of the day, never eats and gets moments where she goes in to a state of complete panic, for no apparent reason.

Callum is determined to find out what or who hurt Jessica and if he has to kiss her into revealing the secret he will, only when the secret is revealed will he want to stick around the broken hearted Jessica or take off running in order to protect his son.

The character of Jessica was really well written, but she totally broke my heart. Right throughout the book I cried every single time she popped up in the read, which of course was pretty much all the time as she is afterall the heroine so yes , tears, tears and more tears!

I felt so extremely sad for her and the heartache she had to face on her own, I did find myself wanting to slap her at one stage as I did not agree with her blaming herself for the circumstances of her hurt but I was also reminded that as in real life, when we face grieve nothing is clear to us and no matter how many times we are told it is not our fault the reasoning will always stay the same, the "What if, I did this or that, I could have changed the outcome".

The character of Callum was really, really terrific I adored his heroic and totally awesome attitude at wanting to dig until he got into Jessica's head. Not once does he back off or give up, he keeps going and I utterly adored him for it! Not every single dad out there is going to want to get involved with a woman that very clearly has some pretty serious issues, when instead is meant to be focusing on his child.

The backdrop settings of the scenes were brilliant! The opening chapter was so vividly described by the author that it gave me goosebumps! I could honestly feel the cold water and taste the fear of every single character, truly fantastic job Scarlet!

The dialogue was not one for the faint of heart, deep emotional scars being dug open and explored, really intense heartache all guaranteed to bring anyone to tears, so if you prefer the happy without any of the drama this read is not for you. But if like myself you find that every now and again you need to be reminded of the
situations of the real world and travel the journey to happiness with characters that might as well be real, this is a read that will let it all happen.

I am taking away a message of life can sometimes be so cruel that it will very nearly kill you, but if you can find the strength to carry on in life then you are guaranteed to be able to find the strength to get back out there and really live life at it's full. Don't go down by simply letting life float by day after day, let some light back into your life by taking tiny baby steps and eventually you will find you are capable of handling anything life throws your way. And never ever blame yourself for things that are simply out of your control, yes it will hurt but it is also life's way of making you stronger and setting you on the path to the ultimate destination in store for you.

I highly recommend this read for all fans of romance! It was heartstopping, sexy, emotional and simply fabulous!! Scarlet Wilson is a master story teller, laying out romance at it's best whilst still giving it that realistic link to real life making the characters truly pop from the pages and stay with you from page one and long after the read is finished.

Keep them coming Scarlet!

After losing her family three years ago, Dr. Jessica Rae, a pediatric doctor, has just been going through the motions. Relying on her work to fill all the empty voids in her life, she does her job extremely well, but the constant heartache and grief of losing her husband and son have taken a toll on her physical and emotional health. Only this morning her world will be turned upside down again. Called to an accident involving a van of nursery children, whose van has rolled down a cliff side into the icy river, she was unprepared to run into her first love from 13 years before, Callum Kennedy. They may have parted amicably then, but she has never forgotten their tender young love. Now it is too late to resurrect any feelings they may have had. Their lives have moved on and she no longer feels she has the capacity to love again. And even if she did, this new more handsome, sexy and mature Callum surely has secrets of his own. Could she take a chance again? Should she take a chance again? If she did want to try, is there any guarantee that she will not love and lose again?

Thirteen years for Callum Kennedy has been a long time. Now a rapid response and specialist rope rescue member with the fire department, his life is filled with helping others and caring for his young son. Over the years he has thought about Jess occasionally, but with marriage and the birth of his son, the times have been further and further apart. After his nasty divorce, his trust with woman destroyed, working at the fire department and protecting his son have become his whole world. Called to an accident of young children in a van lying in the icy river, he is unprepared to meet his first young love again. Only the young woman he remembers has changed almost beyond recognition. For the first time in a long time, he feels the beginnings of desire, but her icy facade confuses him. If he can convince her that they will go nice and easy, will she be willing to resurrect their young love into a more mature version? Is he ready to introduce his son to another woman after all the trauma and heartache he has experienced with his mother?

A totally wonderful book to read. With the background of medical problems and solutions mirroring parts of Jess's own grief, I was better able to relate to the problems that she had. Applying Callum's situation of introducing his son to a new woman in his life to other life experiences I have heard of made the character seem more real to me. Callum's son, Drew, was a treasure to read about with his lovely, sensitive and joyful nature. And when he had all those elusive medical problems, I could certainly relate to Callum's frustration in finding the cause and Jess's unease in operating on a friend's child. I especially enjoyed their visit to the Santa Village.

The vivid descriptions of the countryside, medical situations, and the trip they took made me feel as if I was part of the book. Well written with very well developed characters.

I would recommend this book to all romance readers who enjoyed a story of first love being renewed with a definite positive outcome.

About That Night
The Maverick Doctor and Miss Prim/About That Night

We first met Dr. Evan Hunter and Dr. Violet Connelly in the book The Maverick Doctor and Miss Prim. I am so happy that Scarlet Wilson wrote their story. And what an emotionally one it is. The last few chapters are just be gut wrenching.

Violet has been living in her own private hell for three years now. Only a few close friends know exactly how much she has suffered. After the stress of dealing with Evan’s vendetta against her brother and the growing attraction she feels for Evan she puts in for a transfer from the Atlanta office of the DPA.

Evan Hunter has always thought that Matt Sawyer was at fault for Helen’s death. He always believed Matt had to have known his wife was pregnant. But really deep down Evan blames himself for Helen’s death. As team leader he felt he should have asked more questions when Helen said she was not feeling 100 percent and maybe the tragedy that took Helen’s life could have been avoided. Now Evan has been sent to Africa to head up another team. Also on this team none other than Violet.

Sent to Africa, they will be trying to administer Polio vaccines in an attempt to make polio extinct. But neither one of these two can forget the passionate kiss they shared months ago. Soon they are sharing more than a kiss.

This is more than just a romance story. It shows two people coming to grips with things that happened from their past. It also shows forgiveness, growth, compassion and strength. I recommend both this and the first book in the series. Both can be stand alone novels but I think they are better if read together.

AN INESCAPAPABLE TEMPTATION is a well written romance amid the medical drama. It was an emotional uplifting story. Author Scarlet Wilson’s  story-telling makes the characters come alive on the pages and the reader is personally involved in their happiness and craves the resolution as deeply as they do. This is a story about recovering from past guilt and grief and moving forward. The premise was wonderful and story moved along very fast.

I loved this story and highly recommend it.

My rating 4.5 out of 5 stars.

I have often wondered how nurses find the dedication needed to tend to the sick, the long hours are one thing but what about the risk of getting emotionally attached to your patients and when losing them to death , how do you handle it?  But never have I stopped to think about the nurses and Dr's that serve on cruise ships.

So far away from their homes and families and going from port to port. I am sure if must be very exciting seeing the world in this manner and just as in a hospital you meet new faces with each trip, but what about their "back home" and the reasons for them leaving it behind to travel the world.

In this read the author delved into the life of Francesca, a dedicated nurse on the run from a past and a secret best kept close to her heart, the author showed me that there is always a reason people take the actions they do, and in the process you can gain a new perspective of life.

The character of Francesca however discovers more than she bargained for when meeting her new boss, impossibly good looking sex on legs ready to heal any of your desires Dr. Gabriel Russo, but she does not reckon that their first meeting would involve her lips fused to his in an attempt to save his life!

The main characters of Fran and Gabriel were both well written. Fran is strong and independent yet the pain in her eyes is what shows she is not as strong as she wishes to portray to the outside world, and the author does a stunning job at taking the lost woman and bringing her out from hiding by setting her right into the path of a man worthy enough of dismissing all her past hurt.

Gabriel was pure delight! I loved that he is the fun and flirty type tempting Fran into submission taking her dreams of pink and fluffy and turning them into hot and sexy, yet holding back at the same time, this made for some truly wonderful moments of conflict and definitely burned up the pages with sexual heat simmering on the surface ready to explode at any given moment.

But yes ladies he also has the dreaded commitment issue most men have, but when the author reveals the truth you will be too shocked to be mad at him.

The backdrop setting of a cruise ship was different yet very exciting as the author showed the non fun part to me as reader with the medical emergencies that can creep up on the staff to the luxuries that lounging around in the sun can do for one's peace of mind.

The dialogue was a emotional one with the author using her words perfectly to show the anguish and hurt her characters are facing. I highly recommend this read for romance readers that love a bit of drama in their reads.

I loved this premise.  Say you have a loyal, loving friend and a man lets her down.  You hate him too, right?  Wouldn't you love to go in on your friend's behalf  and teach the sod a lessson of a lifetime!  Well, that's what happened when Fran found herself working opposite Gabriel, the 'Italian' Stallion doctor who'd broken her friend's heart.  It didn't matter that he'd just almost been killed trying to save someone's life.  We girls must stick together, right?

Well, maybe!  The trouble is, before long the sparks are flying between Nurse Fran and the good doctor.  Hey, this wasn't supposed to happen!

I loved the characterization of the two protagonits and the sparky dialogue between the two. Scarlet Wilson knows the medical world well and gives a ring of authenticity to this romance set in the medical world. And I also loved reading about the atmosphere on a Meditarranean cruise ship.

Now I want to add going on a Mediterranean cruise to my wish list.

A great read from Scarlet Wilson.  Satisfaction guaranteed.
