Rebel's Bargain
By Annie West

5 stars

Rebel’s Bargain by Annie West is #7 in the fantastic Harlequin mini series The Chatsfield.

Orsino Chatsfield (Lucca’s twin brother from Melanie Milburne’s The Playboys Lesson) is badly injured after being trapped on a mountain during an avalanche.  Barely alive when he’s rescued all he could think about in what he thought were his dying moments is his ex wife Poppy.  They haven’t seen each other for five years but he has this bone deep feeling they’re not done.   World famous model Poppy rushes to Orsino’s side at the Himalayan hospital and is absolutely flawed he requests she look after him.  She can’t drop everything because she’s in the middle of a shoot for the Baudin Jewellery range so, on the promise of a divorce she takes Orsinio back with her to the beautiful French chateau she’s shooting at.

Orsino may not have his vision back 100% but when he see’s Poppy he knows he needs to get her out of his system.  Things don’t work out as he plans.  Poppy doesn’t just fall into his lap but a few kisses here and there make reserves melt.

Rebel’s Bargain gets 5 stars from me because it is 15 action-packed and fulfilling chapters of Orsino and Poppy rediscovering each other,  taking a tentative step of looking at the now even tho the past that ripped them apart is still simmering.  Set at a beautiful French chateau there’s plenty of interaction and conversation which has the perfect mix of emotion and heartbreak when each other’s point of view of what went wrong is shared.  I find Annie's stories to have so much detail.  Not a word is wasted and a story is weaved in such a way that when you sadly reach the last page you feel 100% fulfilled.  There is so much detail put into the characters, the back story, the present, the location, and the roadblocks that
Need to be cleared before Poppy and Orsino can have their happy ever after.

Orsino really really is a thrill seeker.  He lives for the dangerous and uses his daring adventures to raise money for charities.  He craves the isolation his adventures bring because it stops him thinking about Poppy and he’s managed to turn it into a very successful philanthropic business.  The last thing he wants is to be held ransom to his families money.  He’s the perfect mix of alpha, he’s been burnt and wronged by Poppy and his drive comes from within and he uses his hurt to protect his heart.  His shock that he may be wrong about Poppy is a heartbreaking moment.  I totally understood where Orsino was coming from.

Poppy has spent the last five years working her fingers to the bone in the modeling world. This one last shoot will make her financially set for life.  Almost invalid it opens Orsino’s eyes to Poppy’s world and eventually opens up the opportunity for her to explain her side of the story.  Poppy is lovely and could have told Orsino to take a flying leap but with the promise of a divorce he will no longer have a hold over her and she can try and move on, she hopes.  With Annie’s magical writing I really liked Poppy and it was clear that beneath all the hurt that surrounds the tow she genuinely loves Orsino and you can’t help but wish for their happy ever after.

The Rebel’s bargain can be a stand alone or enjoyed as part of the glorious Chatsfield series. I highly recommend it for all romance lovers who also love quality and detail in their story, for all Annie West fans and for anyone who loves linked books.  Another reason it’s five stars for me is because it’s a shelf keeper and will be reread and enjoyed many more times by me.

I was so fortunate to receive an ARC but I would have paid full price for it  because Annie West's books are on my auto buy list. I absolutely loved it!

This is book seven from the new Mills and Boon The Chatsfield series, and being a huge fan of this author's writing I was overjoyed to sit down and read her contribution to the series.

In this read we meet Poppy Graham, five years ago she married Orsino Chatsfield beneath a confetti of paparazzi flashbulbs , but in her darkest hour, he let her down. Their split was one of those truly bitter endings that sent Poppy striving for independence and acceptance. Now Orisino is back and even more arrogant than before.

After being injured in a climbing accident there's only one person Orsino can turn to, his wife. They have unfinished business, for the sake of sanity he has to finish it before he walks away, this time forever. But the blazing passion between them reignites faster than a candle's flame being lit, the flame will either kill or cure, the question is does either one want to really find out?

This author has the remarkable talent of taking a tale that seems so twisted that it will only break your heart and destroy your faith in love , and un-twisting it to the point where it unfolds into a beautiful tale of romance, passion and true love.

The added bonus this time around was the that the read was fast paced and the characters seemed to simply come alive from the pages.

I feel in love with both hero and heroine right from the start, and I was hopelessly trapped, I simply could not put it down because I so badly craved to see these two find their happy ending.

Which when it came was absolutely gorgeous and brought me to tears of utter joy. I am taking away a message of past guilt and hurt will always linger, the trick is to know when to know when it's time to fight and when it's time to walk away.

I recommend this read for all fans of this series and fans of Annie's books. A fabulous, passionate addition to the series.

Keep 'em coming Annie, we need more!
