Cowboy Justice Catcher Creek 2 by Melissa Cutler

 Cowboy Justice (Catcher Creek, #2)

Reviewed by Desere

Guilt can eat away at your conscience so badly it will ultimately destroy you, sending you over the cliff's edge and there simply will be no way to make it out alive. Being able to get up and still go on whilst living with the guilt as if nothing ever happened is something only a very strong person can do, that is while the world is watching.

When night comes the guilt ramps so high it is as if flames are burning a hole into your soul. Seeking a moment of relieve in any way or form is sometimes the only way to momentarily forget your troubles and leave behind the everyday world of hurt. But when you run back to the person responsible for the guilt simply because you cannot resist them, how will you ever move past it?

In the new read from Melissa Cutler this is the life of Rachel. Ever since she can remember she has been there for her family, especially for her sisters. From the moment their father dies she is right there to step in and take care of the land, the daily chores all to ensure her sisters have the chance to live and not be burdened in any manner or face any form of trouble.

But even Rachel is only human and soon she falls at the hands of temptation when my-tie-is-not-just-for-official-use Vaughn walks onto her porch. Their affair is as off limits as it is hot, and the guilt eats at their souls while the flames of desire burns higher and higher. They cannot be together yet they cannot live without each other and the law coming after them both makes it seem that this is one relationship that will never find it's happy ending.

The character of Rachel was absolutely stunning. Strong, confident, always fighting to get everything done even if it means getting shot to protect her family. A true kick ass heroine! I loved that the author let Rachel be so strong willed in making sure everything is always in tack for her family even though it was in direct contrast with her feelings of never really ever being in tack herself.

Rachel falling apart in little bits in pieces when the real world is no where to be seen showed she was as human and real as they come and that like most of us when you think there are other lives depending on you, you stash it away for all it will do is show you are weak, a very realistic touch very nicely done by the author.

The character of Vaughn was true hero material but also such a jackass. The author let him be the sort of man you want to be all over with in a heartbeat simply because he is all kinds of total deliciousness but at the same time because he has a sense of understanding and the ability to ease pain but only to the extent where it reaches the point when his work comes into the picture.

Once his work steps in all the understanding and caring takes of faster than a outlaw on the run and right here is where the jackass part steps in and all I wanted to do was grab a piece of medal and hit some sense into him! But when the author started digging deeper into his mind I found the answer to him being the way he is and then the author did the brilliant job of crafting the perfect hero from a broken man, simply adored the end result, Melissa you had my heart melting with each slice of pie being offered!

The backdrop settings very vividly described by the author, I felt as if I was able to see the land and hear the sounds of galloping horses and gunfire. The dialogue was a combination of passionate heat, emotional dramatic words that brought me as reader tears of joy and heartache, but above all it was so extremely sexy at times that it not only set alight the pages but is guaranteed to turn the temperature of the coldest place on earth into nothing but a raging fire of flames hotter than the Texas sun.

I am taking away a message of when hiding the guilt you feel from the people that love you the end result when the truth is revealed might be more surprising then finding out you like it rough between the sheets. And backing away from love when your love is all that can save someone is one of the biggest mistakes you can make for when the chance to gain them back comes rolling around the damage might already be to severe to repair.

The author also touched on the life of Rachel's sister Jenna and her love interest and gave just enough insight to let you know Jenna's story will be filled with even more mind blowing awesomeness from Catcher Creek, Melissa write faster and bring me more!

I highly recommend this read for all fans of kick ass, totally awesome, rocking, brilliant romance reads. The author delivers on each and every page. A sensual, sweet, sexier than a Stetson wearing cowboy, hotter than hot, emotionally packed dramatic filled read that will not only leave you breathless and begging for more but also with a overwhelming need to step and break away any chains of hurt you may have holding you down.

Cowboy Justice (Catcher Creek, #2)
Cowboy Justice opens with a modern day gun battle. With Rachel Sorentino protecting her land against “four high on drugs” vandals. And it is a fantastic read all the way through. It will take you through the family history of both Rachel and Vaughn. And gives more insight into who they are and why they are the way they are.

Rachel Sorentino has been trying to hold on to her family’s ranch “Heritage Farm’s” with help from her sisters Jemma and Amy. They are hoping to turn it around ever since their Father ran it into the ground. I just adored Rachel’s character. She was strong, firm in her beliefs and while she struggled to sometimes relate to humans she came through in the end.

I loved the character of Sheriff Vaughn Cooper. A sexy man with a badge and a gun. Vaughn loved using his uniform tie for other things than dressing as sheriff.  While the sheriff might fit every  woman’s dream of good man, he did have a major flaw … his priorities. The job always came first with him and to a point I understood. He was trying to end the career of a law breaking sheriff, but at what cost?

Rachel and Vaughn’s love story is the main focus. While the main part of their history was from a year and a half ago it seems these two can’t forget each other and can’t forget the passion that burns for them both. There is a really passionate scene in the stables with Vaughn tying Rachel’s hands.

I loved the secondary characters of Jemma, Amy, Vaughn’s parents Greg and Maria. I really enjoyed the talks Vaughn had with his father. And I really loved the talk between Jemma and Rachel about the loss of their mother.  I also thought Melissa did a great job of describing the landscape of New Mexico. I have driven through New Mexico before and it is just as she described in this book.

A Couple of favorite lines:

“I’m about to kill some men, Vaughn. You better get to Parillas Valley fast, and bring an ambulance.”

Pathetic, how a four-week affair a year and a half ago had screwed him up so royally.

Colton by Blood (The Coltons of Wyoming #2) by Melissa Cutler

Colton by Blood (The Coltons of Wyoming, #2)My first ever book by the talented Melissa Cutler was Tempted into Danger, which I very highly recommend. I knew then I was going to be a fan of her writing style. I was very excited to read Colton by Blood.

Kate is the Pastry chef at Dead River Ranch. She has struggled to get out of debt after losing her husband and unborn child in a tragic accident six years ago. She also wants to figure out who could have murdered her best friend Faye Frick, which puts her in the path of a kidnapper and murdered.

Dr. Levi Colton has come to Dead River Ranch to help the man who fathered him but never acknowledged him as his son. Jethro Colton has Leukemia and without a bone marrow transplant he will not last long. What I really liked about Levi’s character was even though he grew up poor and without a father’s love. He had a forgiving heart and made a life for himself.

Melissa has a great talent for writing characters that you can’t help but fall in love with. Dr. Levi Colton and Kate McCord are perfect examples.  They are instantly attracted to each other. Both Levi and Kate have had suffered the loss of loved ones in their lives and are working to overcome their past. I loved the flirty way they were with each other. And both had such kind and forgiving hearts. And I am not sure I will ever be able to look at a peach again and not think of a certain scene in the kitchen.

For such a short novel it packs a serious punch. You have quite a few issues, yet I really didn’t feel like I missed out. It is about overcoming the loss of those you loved. Finding forgiveness, and opening your heart to the possibility of a new love.

The Trouble with Cowboys (Catcher Creek, #1)

Reviewed by Desere

I am fairly certain that there is no woman alive that can resist a drool worthy, Stetson wearing, Jean hugging, boot stomping cowboy!

For Amy this is exactly the case, she sees a cowboy and her heart beat goes into overdrive, but she always ends up being the horse ridden and then left in the stall alone.

So when she returns home to help her sisters save the family farm and comes face to face with a very hot and sexy cowboy, the one and only I'll-make-your-knees-go-weak- Kellan, she sees the trouble coming from a mile away.

But faster than you can say Ride-em-cowboy these two find themselves trapped in the most delicious sexual encounters.

The problem, both have family issues stemming way back into the past and a future simply seams impossible, the family issues are all connected to love, and love is not something that Amy wants to set her heart on again only to get burned and for Kellan love is something he has never had and he has been doing just fine without it. But love is a feeling more powerful than any force and if Kellan and Amy can make it work then anyone can.

The characters of Amy and Kellan were both exceptionally well written. Amy was fun and very quirky. Loved that she pours her energy into cooking! Where else have you ever heard of a woman dicing and chopping celery simply to clear her head, I loved this touch from the author, it made Amy very realistic in the sense that it seems like something a real life chef might do, when not cooking simply for the love thereof.

I loved that Amy was a scarred heroine, having her heart broken over and over by her one weakness blended in perfectly with the reasoning of her trying to find her own form of male security that she never got from her father. The author showed that the harder we fall for our weakness the more we crave our weakness to be the one thing to come and rescue us.

The character of Kellan was awesome! Loved, loved, loved the man to bits( and this has nothing to do with my very own weakness for cowboys) there was just so many characteristics about this hero that made me love him. He took me from "I am going to kill this man" to "I totally love you".  I adored that he slowly but surely changes from loveless cowboy to love overflowing for everyone around him, taking away the one time playboy and giving me as reader the perfect heart stopping cowboy hero!

The backdrop settings were perfectly incorporated by the author and blended in with the read perfectly down the very last backdrop setting. So often I find that western romance reads contain a backdrop setting that is simply too glamorous or too flashy to be associated with a cowboy, lucky for me in this read it was not the case, made me love the book even more!

The dialogue had it all, fun, crazy, hot, passionate, sexy and very emotional. I found myself laughing out loud and wiping away at the tears. The sexual level of this read is hot, hot, hot, the pages practically erupted into flames between the characters and their very steamy encounters.

I am taking away a message of holding onto the past will never set you free, you simply need to find the courage to take a risk, set things right and move on, hatred festering in your heart is bound to kill any love you might have left.

I highly recommend this read for all fans of western romances written with a fun and fresh spunk! At the end of this read if you are still not a fan of cowboys and their romantic ways and you don't find yourself wishing for one of your very own, then you definitely need to have your body examined for factory failure!

I look forward to more amazing sensually sexy reads from this author!

Most people believe they can make a difference in the world by creating some awesome invention and most do, but not everyone believes they can save the world and then actually go out and do it by defeating low life scum bags that are set on destroying human life.

And those are the hero's every woman dream of, strong, sexy, powerful and deadly, but the drawback is that he is also the kind to never stick around in one place, and sheltering his heart against any emotion is the just part of the job.

However if there is one thing that can bring such a hero to his knees it is the love of a good woman. But when that woman is the target of deadly intent, protecting her at all costs and not letting your heart get attached is two things that cannot be separated as true love is the most deadliest weapon of them all.

In this read the author took a true action hero Special Agent Santero, his mission in life is to protect and serve in every sense of the word, he always delivers his assets, has never failed a mission and does not intend to start any-time soon. He focuses solely on making sure his current asset Vanessa gets from point A to B. However the mission takes on a deadly turn and re-calculating his plan of action takes them into a world of danger.

Which of course being the ultimate soldier he is he has no problem in handing, only shielding himself from the overwhelming emotions for Vanessa proves more than he can handle. And soon this hero is facing something so much more dangerous than the barrel of a gun.

The characters of Diego and Vanessa were both written so brilliantly that any reader would instantly fall in love with both. Diego is not only the ultimate let-me-take-you-now-and-I'll-blow-your-mind hero but will tempt any woman into taking on some of the worlds most dangerous criminals. Yes ladies believe me the man even manages to make maths sound sexy ! But he is also a man who buried his soul many years ago, and I loved that the author made him the action hero with a broken spirit, that needs to be brought out from hiding.

Vanessa on the other hand was the opposite to Diego, yes she does have some issues stemming from her childhood but she deals with them almost in a "I take it from day to day" kind of approach as oppose to hiding out. I absolutely adored how the author took her from "average" citizen to bring it on heroine. There are not many woman that will be able to go from weak  mode to shoot you where stand mode and best of all still find the courage to grab the man she wants with both hands!

The backdrop setting of Panama was exquisitely described by the author, so much so that I could feel the rain on my skin, smell the plants, hear the rivers and touch the fear when danger lurks. The dialogue was not only exciting to read as Diego and Vanessa go head to head in moments of conflict so powerful it got to the
" I am going to beat these two with a stick" moment more than once, but also laced with emotion and drama that brought me to tears for fear these characters might not make it.

A message of letting go of the past and being a better person vs making the world a better place vs combining the two was brought home by the author in a exceptional and spectacular action filled ending.

I highly recommend this read for those who love red hot passion, action packed taking down criminals the ultimate hero style, mind blowing revealing moments of betrayal and buried secrets and love conquers all reads.

I can with confidence say this read will for sure make it to the best sellers list.

Tempted into Danger (ICE: Black Ops Defenders #1)
Tempted Into Danger has just about everything you could want in a book. It is action packed, full of suspense and has passionate love scenes. You have an attempted kidnapping, an ambush, car and helicopter chases, a snake, gun fights and a Hero any woman would want. It totally made this reader happy.

Vanessa Crosby works for Riobank in Panama as a senior analyst. With a brilliant mathematical mind that is easily bored, she has developed a computer algorithm program that can detect bulk cash movements that will help find criminal money laundering. Now her brilliant mind has caught the eyes of The Department of Homeland Security and the Chiara brothers, three Italian mercenaries.

Diego Santero “Devil” heads a team of five agents which work for ICE. He is a man that knows how to get the job done no matter what. He never fails and he will bring the asset “Vanessa” in safely or die trying. They have been sent to bring Vanessa in, but when Diego and Vanessa are ambushed near the safe house he orders the team to do a Leroy “ head to their own safe places”. Knowing they have a leak in the department is hard to know who to trust.

Sometimes in novels you get a great hero and an OK heroine. Or sometimes it is the other way around. Not in this case. I enjoyed both characters. She was smart, witty, a fighter, beautiful and no whip. He was strong, caring, confident, cocky, smart on his feet, a quick thinker. I loved how they helped each other, their conversations and I felt an instant connection with these two. You also meet members of Diego’s team Alicia (Phoenix), Ryan (Eight Ball), John (Thriller), Rory (Ghost Rider),

I have to admit I did have a few questions that I just didn’t get answers to. But trust me it does not take away from this book. This is a captivating page turner. I love when a book grabs my attention and holds it and I don’t stop reading it until I see THE END.

I highly recommend this book to any readers who enjoy romance or suspense. Melissa is being added to my MUST READ LIST.
