Lissa: Sugar and Spice ~The Wilde Sisters Series Book 3 by Sandra Marton

Lissa: Sugar and Spice (The Wilde Sisters)

Reviewed by Desere

Blame! It's done everyday. Whether you are the one being blamed or whether you are the one blaming yourself, either way it is something that eats away at your soul. You cannot simply get rid of it by placing it in the back of your mind till such time you feel like dealing with it, because it never goes to the back, it always stays the number one thing on your mind, constantly whispering for you to do something about it.

In the new Sandra Marton this is the focus in life for the main characters Lissa and Nick. Once they both had promising careers, Lissa as a promising chef making the most mouth watering dishes and Nick as a kick-ass actor making all the girls knees go weak. But fate steps in and instead of living the dream, they are thrown together in the most unexpected of places.

Whilst each one tries to deal with their new circumstances they find that getting back to their careers is the furthest thing from their minds, because their passion for each other overshadows any other thoughts, that is until reality shows up at the front gate.

The character of Nick was a real ass, the man is as horrible as he his gorgeous. I found myself wanting to hit him on more than one occasion and at other times I felt so sorry for the lost man he has become that I wanted to hold him tight and just say anything I could to make him feel better, there was also of course the times that the man was so extremely sexy and I wanted to smother him in kisses. Him blaming himself for the an incident that led to the end of his career was a very touching tale. I have heard it many times before in the of work I do, but it never stops to amaze me just how much of an impact one incident can have on a person, so badly that it turns them from sunshine to a walking rain cloud that can erupt in seconds. Through this character the author showed, that anything can change our lives in a number of seconds, but it takes an entire lifetime to come back from the brink of insanity.

The character of Lissa, also blamed herself for the loss of her career however, her reason was less emotional, but this did not make her any less interesting. I found myself wanting to congratulate the woman for standing up for herself but I also wanted to scald her for not doing it properly. Through this character the author showed that when we stand up for ourselves we are not meant to do it only halfway, think of it as baking only half of an apple pie, no one will want to eat it and it's the same when we only stand up for ourselves halfway. We will be known as a person of reckoning but never a person of stature. When you fight for your right, do it all the way or don't do it at all.

The backdrop settings were very stunning, the author described the land with such exquisite detail I could honestly feel the cold seeping into my skin and feel the wind blowing away my hair. I loved the book from start to finish, I was swept away by the intense attraction between Lissa and Nick and simply could not get enough of them, I wanted the story to go on and on and never end, and afterwards I sat for almost a full three minutes to try and pull myself from their world and back to my own.

I am taking away a message of blaming yourself for mistakes is never the answer. Yes if you are guilty then that's it, try to make it right instead of just trying to push it away. And yes there will be times when we will be blaming ourselves when in fact it was never our fault to begin with, this is just human nature and can be overcome, but if you refuse to listen to the voice of reasoning when it comes walking through the door, then there truly will never be an end to your suffering. Be courageous enough to listen instead of just following your own set of voices.

I highly recommend this read for any of Sandra Marton's fans. The read was an emotional roller-coaster ride filled with blazing passion, heartache and self-discovery and and an ending you will never see coming!

The age old adage was right. “If it sounds too good to be true, it usually is”. That's what Lissa found out with this latest “executive chef position”. With a deadbeat job, no better prospects in the future and her professional reputation in shreds, the position quoted from her agent sounded perfect. Only the hype and the reality were not the same. Hype: live at a fancy dude ranch or fancy resort where the rich went to have fun with hot tubs, fire pits and luxury accommodations, be able to do American cooking with locally grown ingredients, and make contacts with potential restaurant owners. Reality: live at a broken-down ranch, feed six starving cowboys, tolerate one grouchy, arrogant, sexy, reclusive owner and accommodate a big, beautiful Newfoundland. Reality was a whole lot different from the hype, but was that all she found there? She didn't think so. Had she finally found the “ONE” or would he turn out to be just like all the others, selfish and self serving?

Disillusioned and injured, Nick had returned to the family ranch. With the shattering of all his dreams, he had become rude, insolent, despicable, and elusive from all who knew him. Oblivion was what he was chasing: from the memories of the accident, the sudden ending of his career, fear of an interfering, pitying public, and the bombardment of too many regrets for what he had lost, but a blonde, green eyed, feisty, and determined dynamo changed all his perceptions. From the first sassy, indignant greeting, she had begun to change all his perceptions. Was the bubble they existed in destined to be a step to forever or would reality pop the thin membrane and come flooding in? Could there be a “happily ever after” for them or would unforeseen circumstances force them apart?

From the first pages of Lissa's “pity party” to the last climatic firework ending, this exciting story was written in the famous Sandra Marton style. A well written plot was inter-weaved with very well developed characters. This story was a constant page turner. Secondary characters, including the famous “Wilde Clan” provided a perfect background to the story of searching for that elusive eternal love. I laughed, cried, and sympathized with both Lissa and Nick on their incredible journey to this love.

And the ending...what a fabulous surprise!!!! Can't wait to read future novels by this amazing author. Well done, Sandra Marton,well done!!!

I would recommend this to all romance readers.

The story of Wilde Child no. 6, Melissa, or Lissa, rather, is as absorbing as the previous episodes in Sandra Marton’s family saga of the Wildes of El Sueno.

Lissa is the Wilde child who has broken out on her own and walks a lone path.   Independent, outspoken and proud, one thing that Lissa will never do is admit to having failed while out there in the big, bad world.  Win or lose, she’s a Wilde and that means that failure is not an option in that family of achievers.
A string of failed romances and a career which has hit a downer fails to dampen her spirit.  Men?  Who needs them?   Her loss of romance can be compensated for with chocolates, ice cream, a slew of romantic movies and if it comes to that, mechanical help!  Well, it may not come to that, but if it does, she’s ready.  The loss of a five star job and having her name blackened in her industry doesn’t faze her either.  She shovels chicken in a takeaway, keeps smiling and never calls her family for help.  Not even once.  But all that’s about to change.  A job offer in cowboy ranch land comes her way.  She thinks she’s going to be a chef in a resort which offers ranch-style holidays to discerning (meaning: rich) holidaymakers.  What she does not bargain for is the fact that the job is on a real ranch and instead of serving up haute cuisine to high class ranch tourists, she’s called to serve up pork and beans to real, honest-to-God cowboys and ranch hands.  And the boss? Don’t even mention that laconic, bad-tempered SOB.

But that SOB is familiar looking. He bears a strong resemblance to a certain celebrity who went missing over a year ago and Lissa starts to notice this.  Soon, the whole game changes and it looks as if Lissa’s life is about to change too, for the better.

And if that isn’t quite enough, there’s a twist at the end of the story to make fans of the Wilde series sit up and take notice.

A very hot and romantic read, told with wit, style and humor.  Sandra Marton fans, readers of romance and fans of this series will be well pleased.

Imagine having the woman of your dreams in sight, you take aim but before you can fire your best friend shoots first and sticks to landing and the woman of your dreams is now his arms and seeing her happy is all that matters, so you back down for years.

You hang around to very discretely make sure she is okay and that your so called best friend doesn't hurt her, all the while keeping your love a secret, waiting for the opportune moment and once finally in your reach you grab it with both hands, only she needs a night of wild sex and nothing more how can you convince her that you want it all?

This is the situation that Ryan faces for years he has wanted Naomi so when she calls him up for a one night stand he is over there in a flash, no man can resist having the woman of his dreams finally in his arms and the start of something take form, but the next day Naomi makes sure to have her best friend Becky intervene and keep Ryan away and all because she knows she is ready to jump his bones again at any minute but she is not so sure Ryan wants full time so why start something that will surely end up in heartache. But Ryan has other plans, now that the woman is in his arms he will do anything to keep her there.
The character of Naomi was really cool as I thought the author showed through Naomi's actions that we all hit a point where it is all too much and we get a little lost but that hitting that low is not always a bad thing, sometimes it gives us the courage to grab what we really want, but afterwards our minds clear and the doubts set in. We over think everything about what we have just done. The key to remember is how vital communication is towards those we set our actions to during our low point.

The character of Ryan was super hot and so adorably sweet he melted my heart from page one! The author showed that he is the type of man we very little see or hear about, the kind that has such a good heart that they would do anything to ensure the happiness of those they love even if it means killing their own feelings along the way. I loved, loved, loved how the author let him hit the point of no return and gave him the courage to take what he wanted when the time was right.

The backdrop settings blended with the storyline very nicely, it all being set during a wedding gave the perfect romance feel, even the pool scene mirrored the reflecting of both Ryan and Naomi's life. The dialogue was hot, spicy, sexy, sensual and delivered a pack on every page.

I am taking away a message of communication is vital when you want to make your dreams come true, making your feelings known might not end with you in the arms of the one you love but if you don't take that chance you will never know.

I highly recommend this read for each and every single romance fan out there. It was short and sweet filled with loads of spice, tension and so super hot the pages practically took flame!  The perfect one hour escape to hot, passionate romance!

                           Buckhorn Ever After by Lori Foster

In this five chapter read we meet Shohn, he is hot, hot, hot and more hot! He wants Nadine, he has always wanted her yet something has help him back and instead he has stuck to his playboy love-em-love-em lifestyle.

But looking into the eyes of Nadine one day he suddenly realises it's time to go for it. He has her every which way you can think of.

Only Nadine wants their relationship to remain a secret, for when Shohn breaks her heart like all the other girls in town she would prefer to handle the heartache in secret, instead of being branded as yet another notch in Shohn's bedpost.

Shohn can handle this but only up to the point where letting the world know she is his woman, even if he has to kill off a family member to prove it!

A hot little read about jealousy, finding happiness in the place you are and family that come together to ensure love finds it way to completion. The characters were well written and I liked the conflict and heat between the characters, it set the pages alight.

Adored the cat in this little tale, it added the feeling of coming home to the read. Recommend for Lori Foster fans and for all romance readers who like family meddling!

                                                   Imagine Me and You by Maisey Yates

All Maisey Yates fans know she writes gorgeous ,tormented, badboy hero's that are simply to die for! This time around she has done so again, a drool worthy, come sit in my lap and let me unwrap you for Christmas cowboy!

That cowboy is Jace,but he is not your typical romance hero, yes he is drop dead sexy, great in bed, a badboy when it comes to the have sex and walk away traits, but his past has given him one very quirky habit, the man is a neat freak!

His home is the absolute perfect image of clean. Nothing is out of place, everything is spotless. That is until his best friend Samantha shows up needing a place to stay, only with her comes her beloved dog Poppy with extra drool included.

Jace actually does not handle the dog fur and drool situation too badly and it was rather funny. But the one thing he cannot handle is the simmering attraction for Samantha, it has been there for years but he has been able to brush it off. But now she is in his house looking all gorgeous and he wants her bad. He is thrilled to find she wants him too, but risking their friendship is something Samantha simply will not do. Jace however has a plan and if he has to allow the drooling dog to sleep on his precious couch to get Samantha into bed then this neat freak will break all his own rules!

The characters were both simply great ! I am use to this author's Mills and Boon reads with classy heroines and classier rich hero's but in this read the main characters were both down to earth, spoke their minds and just went with the flow, this was nice and refreshing!

The read comes in at only eleven chapters but was in no way too short or too long, it was just perfect. A very sensual, sexy read about friends who turn to lovers. Highly recommend for all Maisey Yates fans and lovers of cowboys who just don't quit when it comes to getting their woman !

                                                            Gimme Shelter by Heidi Betts

Another five chapter read, this one about Dean and Erica and the three adorable kittens that bring them together.

Dean rescues them so he is definitely hero material ladies! Now the attraction between Erica and Dean move very quick and it is not long before the pages start to burn up with the sizzling heat!

But when Dean decides he is not keeping the kittens he goes from hero to zero in Erica's eyes only the poor man has no idea that is the reason she is giving him the cold shoulder, so he sets out on a mission to get to the bottom of it!

The characters were both likeable and I found myself thinking how perfect they are for each other. I liked the  author using the kittens as the link for this couple. It gave the perfect "ties that bind us" feel for this read.

A very nice little story about compassion and communication. Recommend for all cat lovers !

                                                        Partner in Crime by Jules Bennett

We all do something in the middle of the night that we find heroic, but things can always go wrong. Only for Saige she thinks rescuing animals for crazy owners is just that and the only thing that can go wrong is if she is caught, but she is always extra careful and so reckons it will never happen. Until her red hot drop dead gorgeous ex-cop neighbour Abel turns her in to the police!

Not only is she arrested she loses the dog she was trying to rescue! She is in total shock as only a few hours before she had been having the best orgasms all thanks to being in this man's arms and now this!

This is a short nine chapter read that was also a very easy read, the authors words flowed very nicely and she brought all together with a crazy mess of various animals, each one cuter than the other!

The characters were both very nicely written. I liked that the author lets the attraction between a always do the right thing Abel and do what you must even if you break the law Saige pop from page one.

A wonderful message of life gives us what we need when we least expect it! Highly recommended for all lovers of Jules Bennett fans and romance reads that move with ease and at a fast pacey.

                                                ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
All four stories contained adorable animals from cute little kittens to seriously bad smelling dogs,I adored each one of them. I highly recommend this read for all romance readers looking for a book that contains it all some mystery, some suspense, some police action and yes a delicious cowboy!
There were some really cute lines in this book. It had me snickering quite a bit. And to see what they come up with to have some private time away from this “stuck like glue Cat” Louie
Imagine Me and You by Maisey Yates
In this darling short by MaiseyYates, we meet long time friends Jace and Samantha. They have known each other since high school. While neither one has had a relationship that has lasted, their friendship has stood the test of time.
Samantha has shown up on Jace’s doorstep needing a place to stay. She has a MOOSE aka “Newfoundland “for a dog and needs a temporary place for a month. She promises it won’t be an issue, but we all can see the writing on the wall when Samantha and Poppy move into Mr. OCD’s house. Jace is a clean freak, everything has a place and no dust is going to settle on his furniture. So how is he going to stop from going nuts when drooling Poppy moves in?  Let the laughter begin.
And wow was there ever some steamy scenes in this book … yeah I know but seriously they were in the shower … STEAMY!  For a short story Maisey was able to pack in quite a bit of back story to explain Jace’s obsession with cleaning and having everything in it place.
Gimme Shelter by Heidi Betts
In Gimme Shelter: Erica has secretly drooled over her hunk of a neighbor for a year now. And she is surprised when he shows up on a rainy evening after midnight holding three small kittens. Dean has come to the only person he thinks can help him with the small kittens he rescued from work. Erica is an animal L O V E R! Mom to two dogs and three cats of her own. So she was the go to gal when it comes to animal care.
Dean had noticed Erica before but never up close and is shocked how pretty she really is.  While she helps him warm up the kittens and feed them they start flirting with each other. She lets him know he will have to stay at her house with her, to help feed the kittens every couple of hours. They soon realize they have a lot in common. And neither can move fast enough to get the other in bed.
Heidi Did a great job making me feel like I was watching the antics of these three little kittens. I even enjoyed how Dean named them The Three Stooges Larry Curly and Moe. It was quite cute to see what they go into.
Partner in Crime by Jules Bennett
In Jules Bennett’s short story Partner in Crime: We meet Abel who is pet setting for his sister Leah who is in the military in Iraq.  Recuperating from a gunshot wound he received while a police officer. He is waiting to be cleared to return to the Police force and is hoping to take a job in Lexington. When the neighbor’s dog fluffy grabs a plastic ball with Spike inside “Leah’s guinea pig”, of course Abel panics. But soon the guinea pig is rescued. But Abel is not sure he will be the same.  He is instantly attracted to Saige. She is just the type of woman Abel is attracted to, not all skin and bones. But a woman he can hold on to.
Saige is so much more than a pretty face. While she works at a vet clinic during the day. At night she is busy breaking the law by stealing dogs. With tips from a friend she dons black clothing and goes into the worse of neighborhoods to rescue dogs that are being abused, used in fighting or just plain neglected. She uses her own money to care, treat and love these dogs to health while finding them good homes to go to.
When Abel sees her leaving late at night he follows her. He makes her tell him what is really going on and when she is determined to go back for the dog, he tells a fellow police officer and has Saige picked up. But there is so much more behind this. While Saige is really angry over feeling betrayed, she soon changes her tune when he tells her why he did this.
I loved the story line Partners in Crime. I loved that there was someone willing to do anything to rescue abused and neglected animals. There were also a few funny lines in this book. Especially regarding Fluffy, and her little problem.
These four short stories were really cute.  One of the things I enjoyed was each one had a few laughs in each, along with some steamy romance.
Another reason to purchase this book - The authors are donating all of their proceeds from Animal Attraction to the Animal Adoption Foundation of Hamilton, OH, a charitable organization.
The Trouble with cowboys by Melissa Cutler
The Trouble with Cowboys (Catcher Creek, #1)
Reviewed by Desere
I am fairly certain that there is no woman alive that can resist a drool worthy, Stetson wearing, Jean hugging, boot stomping cowboy!
For Amy this is exactly the case, she sees a cowboy and her heart beat goes into overdrive, but she always ends up being the horse ridden and then left in the stall alone.
So when she returns home to help her sisters save the family farm and comes face to face with a very hot and sexy cowboy, the one and only I'll-make-your-knees-go-weak- Kellan, she sees the trouble coming from a mile away.
But faster than you can say Ride-em-cowboy these two find themselves trapped in the most delicious sexual encounters.
The problem, both have family issues stemming way back into the past and a future simply seams impossible, the family issues are all connected to love, and love is not something that Amy wants to set her heart on again only to get burned and for Kellan love is something he has never had and he has been doing just fine without it. But love is a feeling more powerful than any force and if Kellan and Amy can make it work then anyone can.
The characters of Amy and Kellan were both exceptionally well written. Amy was fun and very quirky. Loved that she pours her energy into cooking! Where else have you ever heard of a woman dicing and chopping celery simply to clear her head, I loved this touch from the author, it made Amy very realistic in the sense that it seems like something a real life chef might do, when not cooking simply for the love thereof.
I loved that Amy was a scarred heroine, having her heart broken over and over by her one weakness blended in perfectly with the reasoning of her trying to find her own form of male security that she never got from her father. The author showed that the harder we fall for our weakness the more we crave our weakness to be the one thing to come and rescue us.
The character of Kellan was awesome! Loved, loved, loved the man to bits( and this has nothing to do with my very own weakness for cowboys) there was just so many characteristics about this hero that made me love him. He took me from "I am going to kill this man" to "I totally love you".  I adored that he slowly but surely changes from loveless cowboy to love overflowing for everyone around him, taking away the one time playboy and giving me as reader the perfect heart stopping cowboy hero!
The backdrop settings were perfectly incorporated by the author and blended in with the read perfectly down the very last backdrop setting. So often I find that western romance reads contain a backdrop setting that is simply too glamorous or too flashy to be associated with a cowboy, lucky for me in this read it was not the case, made me love the book even more!
The dialogue had it all, fun, crazy, hot, passionate, sexy and very emotional. I found myself laughing out loud and wiping away at the tears. The sexual level of this read is hot, hot, hot, the pages practically erupted into flames between the characters and their very steamy encounters.
I am taking away a message of holding onto the past will never set you free, you simply need to find the courage to take a risk, set things right and move on, hatred festering in your heart is bound to kill any love you might have left.
I highly recommend this read for all fans of western romances written with a fun and fresh spunk! At the end of this read if you are still not a fan of cowboys and their romantic ways and you don't find yourself wishing for one of your very own, then you definitely need to have your body examined for factory failure!
I look forward to more amazing sensually sexy reads from this author!
Lynn Raye Harris is well known as an author of sizzling, contemporary romance.
Readers who are already familiar with her work and romance readers who are longing to try out a new writer would certainly enjoy this short but action packed read.  Many novelists find the short story form rather daunting, but Lynn Raye Harris packs a lot into this novella meant especially for e readers.  The result is a short ebook which will satisfy readers who enjoy contemporary romance.
When Maddie and Ryan meet on the neutral territory of Hawaii, the not so distant past comes to mind.  She, as a news reporter, gave out an unflattering story which cost Ryan some of the sweetest moments of his career.  The tough Marine finds it difficult to let bygones be bygones.  But the sparks of attraction are flying between them.  Can this pair bury the hatchet and get to work on that attraction?
When I say it's a hot read, I'm referring to the sizzling hot chemistry between Ryan and Maddie, rather than to sexual descriptionn.
When we were teenagers we all had a crush on someone older, we dreamed of the day that person would see us as grown up and fall instantly in love with us too.
Of course most us move on from that little day dream as we grown up and fall in love with someone more our age and more suited.
But for Veronique she fell for her camp counsellor when she was just 13 years old, and fifteen years later she is still head over heals for I'll-make-hotter-than-hot-and-you-will-need-more-than-the-rain-to-cool- down-Nick.
Since the last time she saw him , he has been married, divorced, disgraced, nearly sent to jail and fired as CEO of his own foundation.
Veronique knows who is responsible for shattering the man of her dreams life and she is out to bring it all to light, and if she can prove she is no longer a silly thirteen year old but a sexy woman it will be a double score!  Only her plan has a flaw, Nick is not interested in spending time with any other human being within a 100 mile radius, getting into his house is easy but not being thrown out requires a complete different plan of attack.
The character of Veronique was well written but I would personally have liked to see her act like more of a grown up as after all this is one of the things she is out to prove. The author did give me as reader little glimpses of her acting as a adult but most of the time I could not help but feel she is still just a child trying to make a point and not really giving it her all. I did love that she has such a strong kind heart, always wanting to help others, it made her feelings for Nick so much more real and vivid, the author showed that those that wear their hearts on their sleeves do get hurt but when done in the name of love only good can come from it.
The character of Nick was a true brute, instead of fighting back, he takes his knock of life and goes down hard, leaving him unfriendly and just no fun to even be in a room with. However the author slowly but surely lets the man crawl out from his hideaway and shows a fun loving spirit beneath, that let my heart melt!
The backdrop settings were fun and calm when it comes to Nick's home, but also nice and exciting when it gets to the run around at getting the information to the right hands in order to reveal the truth. The dialogue was nicely done, emotional, sexy and heartfelt.
The sexual level of the is read, was hot and heavy but not of the erotica kind rather spicy with a dash of sweet.
I recommend this read for lovers of romance with a bit of a mystery and one where lovers meant to be finally get their chance.
With her high class French mother and celebrity father, Veronique (Ronnie!) was one of those girls who seemed to have it all.  Then her father died tragically and her life changed forever.  She made it through with the help of some very special people.  Her loving mother, her caring stepfather (although she didn't appreciate him as much as she could have), her caring friends (her heart sisters) and Nick, a very special camp counselor.
The years have gone by.  Nick has emerged from a messy divorce with his name blackened, as a suspect of fraud.  Plucky and resourceful, Ronnie is now an ace news reporter who is determined to clear the name of the man she has loved since she was a troubled teen.  But will Nick trust her?  He's been badly abused and manipulated in the name of love and is determined never to lose his heart again.
Even when Ronnie seems to have convinced him, the battle's not half over.  There are dangerous enemies lurking in the background.  Enemies who have framed Nick for fraud and an enemy who wants Veronique out of his life so she can have him herself.  At one stage, it doesn't look as if this couple has a future, they are so surrounded by foes and ill wishers.  If the power of love can help them overcome these problems, this couple will be set up for life.  But can they overcome?
An enjoyable romance novel which reads in parts like flirty, contemporary fiction, yet takes on the darker tones of romantic suspense in others.  Somehow, though, the mixture works.  As a romance author, Sophia Knightly certainly has what it takes.
Letting others help her is the one thing she hates most, so she fights her way back to the top, making sure she can and will do things for herself and she does a truly great job at it.
She doesn't count on ending up in the arms of don't-deny-your-attraction-to-me-or-I'll-have-to-prove-it Xander. Soon there is a blazing hot passionate affair between them but this is only sex to the both of them, Xander lives for fun and fun only, and Chelsea does not need some hunky do me every-way  everywhere you want  lifeguard to save her, she does things on her own or not at all.
The character of Chelsea was for me as reader was one that showed courage and strength in fighting to get her life back on track, a strong heroine is always remarkable, but at the same time this heroine was something else.  She goes from strong and independent to a complete helpless mess and back to her ready to fight mode and yes back again to complete mess.
This might sound like a see -saw character that no doubt will turn you off , but the reasoning behind her actions were so stunningly depicted and explained by the author and it brought me the understanding I needed into her fears, the more I read the more evolved and remarkable she became.
The character of Xander was a true hero, not the usual kind a woman dreams of, more the 'I will only be using this sex on legs for a good time' kind. He is hot with a capital H and is guaranteed to bring every female reader to her knees.
But at the same time he is the understanding kind, the man is able to draw out pleasure and at the same time he is able to tell what Chelsea needs on a emotional level. That is not something we always see in romance reads, as it goes from meeting each other to the hot sex and then the I love you's comes, with no real depth into the in between and the what he or she is able to do for each other. The fact that author let him be so in tune with Chelsea and her emotions, slowly but surely drawing her out from her shell made him the perfect bad-boy hero, and gave me as reader the true level of depth for this read that most reads completely miss.
The backdrop settings were fun and exciting, but mainly very wild and oh so very sexy! From the very wild and controlling 'office sex' scene to the anger overload aquarium scene the entire read was filled with wild, crazy, hot unbridled passion.
The author packed so much emotion behind the sex that it brought tears to my eyes it was truly as if I could feel not only the very raw heat between Xander and Chelsea but I could almost touch the emotions of joy, anger, fear, lust and pain.
The dialogue was flirty and extremely sexy, you will be squirming in your seat when you hear the things Xander says to Chelsea, and I am willing to bet there isn't a woman alive that would be able to resist. But  the author also gave it her all on the emotional front.
She took the characters dialogue from flirting to wild in seconds and to kind and caring in a heartbeat. Yes a few curse words were used here and there, but not to the point of overuse or to the point where the curses were killing off the romance element of the read completely.
No more to the point of it being real life depicted, as in certain relationship moments today's couples do actually get to the f@#% you point in their conversations  This to me as reader showed that the author really created remarkable characters that were realistic and that many readers can connect to. Fantastic work Natalie.
Now if your thinking that because of the high level of sexual content in this read as I mentioned that this is another 50 shades erotica you would be very wrong,  the difference lies in what the author has done with her characters, giving us a stronger more believable hero and heroine, a better and more powerful message and a more in depth look into the characters, their emotions and ultimately what can save them.
I highly recommend this read for lovers of realistic romance with a sexual content that is pushed from vanilla sex to vanilla with sensory overload of drizzled strawberry syrup topped with whipped cream and covered with a blanket of true soul-mate found love.
I am very much looking forward to the other three books in this series, as the author let me in on the friends of Xander and I can tell that we are in for one heck of a ride with these boys. I fully anticipate this series to hit the best sellers list.
The message am taking away from this read is that sometimes you need help and letting others breathe for you will allow you the become stronger that you have ever been before.
Breathe For Me by Natalie Anderson
Still recovering from a devastating car accident, which took the life of her finance Tom. Chelsea doesn't want to feel that kind of pain and lost ever again. She is just starting to get her life back on track, by moving to New York City for a few months while doing an internship and working on a post-grad qualification. But she is finding it extremely difficult to not give in to temptation.
Xander Lawson is the "lets have fun only type of guy". He is loyal, has great friends, self made, flirty, loves to lend a hand, rescues damsels when needed. But when it comes to love, he wants no part of it. Not after the life he and his mother suffered at the hands of his father. He can rock your world in bed and even up against the wall, but don't make the mistake of falling in love, because that is when he checks out.
From the moment Chelsea Greene and Xander Lawson meet you can almost feel the sizzling attraction. Just one touch from the very witty and sinfully attractive Xander, has Chelsea feeling things she hasn't felt for almost two years. Once these two agree to have sex it is with the understanding, that this is all it will ever be for both of them ... Or I'll it ? This is one VERY Intense and passionate read. The scenes were extremely HOT. I also loved Xander's humor in this book, there were quite a few chuckles. I found it very hard to set this book down, until I was finished.
This was the first book by Natalie Anderson for me, but I look forward to reading many more in the future. I can't wait to read Logan Hughes story in Beg For Me!
I haven't read such a hot read in a while.  It really made me sit up.
At the core, it's a love story.  Chelsea was maimed in an accident which took her fiance's life.  She was left with a damaged leg and her life was interrupted.  She's now living in New York City and trying to make it in life without the cushion of parental protectiveness.  Xander Lawson was a child from a broken home.  His father was violent and controlling.  He has become something in life, owning an engineering degree and a security company.  But deep inside, he's hurting.
It's said that when two people are destined for each other, they recognize each other, even if they don't really realize it at the time.  Xander and Chelsea embark on a sexual relationship.  Neither of them wants anything long term and permanent but they both want the kind of emotional release which they seem to be able to get only with each other.  As they explore the depths of intimacy and sexuality, the unthinkable happens.  They fall in love.
Natalie Anderson writes deep, sexy, passionate prose.  She literally takes the reader by the hand and boldly goes where other writers don't.  Short of being in bed with Xander and Chelsea, I couldn't have gotten in any deeper.  Arousing?  Yeah, very much so.
Therein lies the problem.  How do you  go back to washing the dishes and cooking dinner having explored the depths of fantasy with Xander and Chelsea?
This couple get so intimate that they feel each others' pain.  The healing can begin when they literally go over that edge - going that extra mile with each other on the road to recovery and self discovery.
It's a human, sexually vivid story.
It's a very precious story.
So I would hate for someone to misread it and classify it as a 'dirty book'.
For mature readers only.
It explored levels of commitment and possessiveness that had me sitting up and taking notice. And it was that closeness, that intimacy, that moved me much more than the sexploration, the sex play and the role playing.  Heck, being a fly on the wall is NOT much fun.
It also made me want to grab hold of my significant other.  And get down and dirty.
Kudos to Natalie Anderson for her courage in writing a book like this.  Any fault?  Well, I don't fancy sharing my private world with the greater world out there -  I wasn't sure if Chelsea would either.
As a certain Irishman used to say, books are neither bad nor good.  Books are well written or badly written, that is all.
This was well written.  Very much so.
BREATHE FOR ME by USA Today Bestselling Author Natalie Anderson is an April 2013 release.
Chelsea Greene was caught with the elevator not working during a fire alarm in her building. And she was in a bikini as she was on the roof top pool when the alarm sounded.
So when Xander Lawson swung her in his arms and carried her down, she didn’t really want to let go! But what was she hiding behind the hurt in her eyes? Was she ready to let go of the past to move into the future?
Xander had his own demons. He didn’t really want any commitments. He wasn’t ready, would he ever be?
BREATHE FOR ME is a sensual romance which would bring tears at it’s emotional intensity. It also has off the charts sexual chemistry between Xander and Chelsea. This is a story about recovering from past guilt and grief and moving forward. The premise was wonderful and story moved along very fast. Natalie Anderson has once again penned a superb, engrossing and fascinating romance which kept me hooked from the first page.
I loved this story and highly recommend it.
My rating 4.5 out of 5 stars.
An intensely powerful, captivating and gripping story about Xander and Chelsea who meet during a fire alarm in their apartment building.  Chelsea is slower than everyone else and suddenly "Superman" appears and carries her down many flights of stairs.  It's the start of something amazing that both of them promise each other they wont analyse and it is what it is for as long as it lasts with NO strings!
Chelsea's story is wonderfully crafted, unique and so heartbreaking that I was completely engrossed in the story, hoping she would get her happy every after.  Xander is to die for! He has it all - looks - brains - money and while he is damaged in his own way he really is a super hero for Chelsea in so many ways.
The heat level in this book is insanely hot, Natalie does warn us she's ramped it up but I'm pleased to say that her usual humour she has used in past books has shone thru as well.  Another thing Natalie does that gets a massive tick from me is she gives her heroes sexy, strong and masculine names.  Chapter Three introduces us to Hunter, Logan and Rocco.
...She walked, lifting her chin with resolve, giving the doorman a quick smile of thanks before looking out to the street— and stopped so suddenly the person behind almost barged into her.... too dazzled by the sight running past on the other side of the road. Four of them running along the opposite sidewalk, looking like a Nike ad. All of them athletic gods in shorts and tees. Hell, one was without the tee. It was— “Oh my,” she couldn’t contain herself.
It had me dreaming/hoping/wishing that Hunter, Logan and Rocco all get their own stories too... it was a fist-pump moment when I found out the answer was YES!!!
Breathe for Me is intense in many ways, Xander and Chelsea's chemistry, Chelsea's background, Xander's pursuit of Chelsea, I just couldn't put this down and I can.not.wait for Logan's story.  I liked that Hunter, Logan and Rocco feature heavily thru out the story and I loved the humor interspersed thru the characters dialoge. Another thing I really liked about the story is that there was actually a story, there was substance, which is lacking from so many stories out there today where the heat level is higher than boiling point.
Totally couldn't put this down once I started, I would highly recommend for any Natalie Anderson fan, for anyone who is looking for substance to match an off the Richter Scale heat level and for anyone who loves connected books and for anyone who still dreams of being rescued by Superman!
Imagine showing up for what you think is a meeting and instead you end up seeing a dead security guard only known to you as Harry, who by the way has apparently been in love with you for years, a psycho with a pink Glock 19 and a memory card detailing a hedge fund of the most outrageous kind!
Pretty sure you all will agree with me that is not the kind of meeting or day that any average normal person would want or would even be able to handle. I for darn sure would take off running.
In this read however the author created a strong, confident character, Carina. She gets the shock of her life when all details are revealed, but takes it all in stride right along with the-cuff-me-do-me-take-me-I am-yours -Officer Handsome!
I really liked that Carina does not automatically go in the hysterics like most woman would but that she sees things with a different perspective.
The dialogue was kept to a minimal as Carina and Officer Handsome exchange very few words and most of the talking is done by the deceased security guard.
As boring as this may sound it was actually kind of interesting because through the voice of Harry the author delves into the lives, thoughts and actions of those involved in the hedge fund.
The author used some pretty impressive descriptions of the characters surroundings making the backdrop setting of the book really POP!
I loved the vivid depiction of the grand "island" as I like to call it, where meetings of the "we like to play with people's lives" take place.
What was also an added interesting element is the author gave the whole "your being watched" idea a new twist. Coming in on 42 pages this was a very short and quick read.
The heat level of this one was present but does not get explored in the manner it seems to build up to, it was almost as if the author ended the book before I as reader got to the explosive sex, that the book leads you to believe is coming.
If your looking for full blown romance or sex scenes that will leave you breathless this is not the read for you.
If however you like short stories with a bit of twist on life, a fresh take and look at what schemes people can get involved in and how those involved handle the consequences this one is for your keepers shelf.
While the story was written with no grammar errors, it lacked focus for me. I came away from reading this short story asking myself, what was it really suppose to be about? And this short story is told from Carina’s eye witness account and a recorded device that was found on Harry.
A security guard named Harry who brings Carina Winston to a Florida Island. He has never met her in person but he is in love with her. Sounds like a psycho stalker to me. Harry worked for Mr. X a Super rich multimillionaire who likes to get together with other rich people and make million dollar bets on people’s lives.
When Carina arrives in the meeting all hell breaks loose and Harry the Security guard is shot and killed. Mr. X who fakes being in a wheelchair jumps up and runs out of the meeting. The whole time during the interview at police headquarters Carina is flirting with a detective old enough to be her father.
I came away with unanswered questions, confusion and feel this short story could have been so much better.
Mickey J. Corrigan's work isn't so much a contemporary romance as a sexy thriller.  This is a writer who isn't so much interested in the 'nice' side of life, her characters tend to walk on the wild side and on the darker side of romance.  But her stories are oh-so-compulsive all the same.
Judging by her name, the author seems to be Irish American.  Well, that being the case, she's definitely inherited the Irish trait for telling a rattling good yarn.  This book will lead you up the garden path (well, down a back alley or two, see, I told you it wasn't a 'nice' story and I mean that in a positive sense), it will surprise you.  What it will not do is bore you.
The heroine, Carina, is a livewire.  She has a lot to deal with.  She's just heard news fit to turn her world upside down.  That is, that nothing which has happened to her in her life has happened by chance.  She's been watched like a beetle under a microscope for years.  Sassy and sexy, she flirts outrageously with the police officer who is trying to unravel the mystery of her life.
An ebook short, this won't take up much of your time.  But it will make you sit up straight. Go on, I dare you to read it.
Ten years later she is older and wiser, she has just quit her dead end job and broken up with her no good cheating ex.
Whilst stepping in for her ill mother and assisting with the planning of a wedding she comes face to face with the heart breaker Jack again and this time she is not going to back down until she gets him covered in chocolate and in her bed!
Jack however has always been a firm believer in the never getting down and dirty with one of his best friends sister pack,  was that way ten years ago and still has to be this time.
But he does not count on Jess showing off her new found inner vixen side. Yes, you guessed it he falls for her sexual interludes and he falls hard, but he knows he is still going to need to walk away.
The main characters in this book were well written, Jack is a average guy, okay so I lie he is sexy as sin and not average at all, and despite his stardom status does not walk around with his head in the clouds. He does however have some emotional demons lurking behind his eyes and Jess is the woman to break the chains and set his ever persistent ideas on loyalty free.
Jess was a breath of fresh air, determined to get her man and not afraid to really let go and show the world that underneath the dull, librarian is a sexual tigress just waiting to let loose!
The backdrop settings were fun and exciting bursting with glamour and dripping with sexual heat. The descriptions given by the author were detailed and I as reader could easy picture the island in my minds eye. The dialogue screamed sensual heat, sexual tension, buried emotions and unspoken romance.
What I loved was the author showed that everyone is always good enough to someone no matter how much you doubt it, that special someone will show you that you matter. This was a sexually charged read from one of today's best selling authors.A must read for those looking to escape to a setting of racy sex filled nights, passion infused romance and tender heart felt spoken moments.
Fans of Nicola Marsh know that they can count on a good read as soon as a book of hers is available for download/hits the shelves.  They’ll get an intriguing plotline, a work of fiction to absorb them with it’s ready wit and breezy style.  Her dry sense of humour is a joy to read.
Jess Harper has realized that it’s good to be bad.  She’s recently shed a job which didn’t challenge her creativity, being a librarian in a small town.  She’s also said goodbye to a dorky fiancĂ© who cheated on her and had the nerve to blame her for it.  Stepping in to her mother’s wedding planner shoes puts her in close proximity to hot celebrity chef Jack McVeigh. He’d eluded Jess some years previously owing to the male code of honor which (allegedly) states ‘thou shalt not make out with thy friend’s sister’.  Jess had decided that Jack is just the man she needs for a short but sweet fling.  Should Jack continue to elude her (he fully intends to) she has a few tricks up her sleeve, courtesy of the Burlesque Bombshell Revue girls of Las Vegas.
The nicest lesson I took away from this book is the fact that if someone really loves you, you don’t need to  be a bombshell with a perfect figure and a bag of sex toys.  Real love is more than enough.
If you like it hot (some do), you’ll love this.  Graphic languages and content is present, my friends.  If you can leave hot, you’ll probably enjoy this anyway.  Nicola’s humor is infectious.
Brash is Book 1 of Nicola Marsh's Burlesque Bombshell sizzling series.
What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas, yes?  Well, once Jess Harper is re-introduced to her childhood crush, who just happens to be her brothers best friend, Jess throws caution and her cooped up boring stodgy life to the wind and wants a whole lot of lovin to happen in Vegas, with Jack firmly in her sights as the target of her lovin'.
Ten years ago Jack was just an outback chef, now he's a sough after michelin star chef with the world at his feet.  He owes Jess's brother (and hero of book 2) for this, along with the groom of the wedding he's been asked to cater for.  Jess is the wedding planner due to her mum falling sick.  Jess has had enough of being the perfect daughter, sister, librarian and at the risk of being humiliated she sets about getting Jack to notice that she's not a lil girl anymore.  Some hilarious results but you know what they say... practice makes perfect!  Trouble is Jack knows she's not a lil girl any more but she's still his best mate's lis sis.
Much to Jess's delight they are flown to a beautiful island to plan the wedding... perfect location for operation "jump-jack"!
And I know what you're thinking... is that blindfold on the cover used?  Yeeessss it certainly is!
There's no holding back in terms of heat... it's off the charts!  A fast read and a fun read that's highly enjoyable.
As I write this Book 2 Blush has been released and both Jess and Jack frequently feature.  Book 3 is coming in 2014.
Don't walk past this series if you want a bit of fun and escapism, Brash and Blush perfectly hit the spot.
Excellent, hot read alert ladies! This book was incredibly well written and full of life and passion. The characters of Sophie and Damon were simply marvellous!
The story revolved around deliciously sinful sexy Damon, a man that has sworn to never love again after being terribly hurt, but at the same time he is the ultimate hero, strong, commanding and ready for action when someone is in danger.
Sophie was definitely a heroine of the nicest kind, strong yet at the same time vulnerable enough for me as reader to know that she needs a man to get her through the worst of her fears.
I loved how the author brought her characters to life with vivid descriptions and for me it was as if the words on the pages took on a life of their own, making it all seem very real.
The author incorporated a series of danger filled events and twists here and there that made interesting turns in the saving the damsel in distress story world and this in turn let the scenes pop out at me, almost as if shouting "Hey reader, the best is yet to come keep reading". And let me tell you I did, as I could not get enough.
I loved, loved, loved how the author brought into play the "other woman" so to speak and no ladies you will not be disappointed by this, you will only like I myself was, be even more intrigued.
The passion in this fabulous read was hot, hot, hot !! I mean who of us does not love a sexy "bad boy come ex - sheriff" getting down and dirty with a" lost" woman. I know I do and this author made sure to captivate and deliver on each and every page!
I could also as reader tell that this author really thought about what she was penning down, the level of emotion was so deep and meaningful it left me in awe.
This was a compelling  sexy, smart, action filled read and I highly recommend it. However if your planning on doing just a little bit of reading before bed I will advise against selecting this book as you will not, and I repeat not be able to stop and will end up reading way into the early morning hours.
I really look forward to the next read from a author who will surely make it big!
A love story cum thriller.  Don’t know which I liked better, the love story or the thriller.  The hero, Damon, is fascinating.  He’s the sheriff and he’s slept with practically every woman in town.  Dr Sophie Redmond, the heroine, is a very cold woman who keeps her distance with everyone ;but we learn why as the story progresses. There’s a very good reason for that.
The love scenes are meltingly hot.  If that’s what you like, you’ll love this book.  But the mystery and fascination with the characters are what drew me in.  Damon, quite surprisingly in my opinion, melts her reserve.  When Sophie gets arrested in the course of her investigation as to why someone has framed her in a medical negligence case, she and Damon give a whole new meaning to Jailhouse Rock.  Meaning they make the jail rock.  When Sophie gets released on bail into Damon’s custody – a beautiful woman and he the town stud – I have to admit I did find it a little difficult to suspend my disbelief.  Apparent inconsistencies in the plot are explained when it subsequently transpires that they have more than one enemy.
It’s both a hot erotic read and a thriller but there is a definite human story behind this.  You could sense that the author really cared about the characters and she drew them well.
The one error that kept showing up was the use of ‘mum’ not ‘mom.’  In the UK it’s always mum, in the USA it’s always ‘mom’.  Nothing a good editor couldn’t fix.
Whether you’re looking for hot or looking for thrills, this one will hit the spot.
A fast paced thrilling love story rolled into a tight ball of intrigue keeps the pages turning in this quick read... that along with the physical intense scenes between Sheriff Damon and Dr Sophie which are hot enough to power the national grid!
Damon is Paradise Falls Sheriff and he knows everyone in town; including all the females very intimately, but he's a lovable character; he's a man who knows what he wants and he's not afraid to go after it.. and he's a man in uniform so that's a bonus.  Sophie is new to town but it's not long before her past  is chasing her and her present is challenged.
I liked Sophie's dating rules and how she related them back to her life and it was humorous when she was exasperated that she kept breaking them because Damon was slowly breaking down her defenses but really, how could he not; man in uniform and all (ok, so I like men in uniforms).
Once I started Falling Into Paradise I couldn't put it down, it was a fab mystery mixed in with   Damon and Sophie wasting no time to explore each other.  Falling into Paradise gets straight into it, no mucking about and not a page is wasted on unnecessary detail.  I'm definitely going to keep an eye out for Kamy Chetty's future books and I really hope this is the beginning of a series with the background setting of Paradise Falls.
Highly recommended if you're looking for something quick and packed with action to keep the pages continuously flicking!
This was book two from The Bachelor Fireman Series and I am at a loss  for words to tell you just how awesome this book was.
I have always, always had a very strong liking for fireman,ok more like a obsession and having read the first book from this absolutely stunning series I was definitely not going to miss out on this one.
This time around we get to know more about the sexy as sin, makes you weak at your knees with a mere look, toned in all the right places, Ryan Blake.
From the first book in the series I got to know a little about him and his affirmations but it was more about the fact that he can get any girl to do anything all night long by just smiling at her. But this time the author peeled back the layers and really gave me as reader the low down on him.
He did not have a great childhood and yes ladies he was a bad boy (don't you just love those) but he has worked hard to work his way up the ladder and prove he is more than just a pretty face with a bad rep. Only he has one small flaw and that is that he never thinks only reacts and that is what causes him to loose his job as fireman.
But with this it also brings him to the cute as a button but very feisty Katie. Katie has a exceptionally hard time to keep her fantasies about Ryan at bay as she believes there is no way a hot guy like Ryan would want her. Along with this the author also brings into play a series of fire related events that draws Katie and Ryan deeper together with a passion so explosive it will leave you just as breathless as I was.
The author also let me as reader a little deeper into the lives of the other fire fighters who are no doubt going to have their own books,hopefully coming very soon.
The dialogue was fun and witty and the  little sayings Ryan and Katie throw at each other was really delightful. The author truly packed this read with emotion, passion and just plain good old fashioned hot romance!
I loved how the author sent across a message of sometimes the unexpected of events can lead you right to where you need to be, and under the surface of a pretty face lies the true heart of a hero.
Ryan was and will forever be a character that will stay with me and remind me that letting go of the past and focusing on your future instead of trying to run from it is a life lesson that must be remembered.
I look forward to the next part of the truly hot series.
MARRYING THE ENEMY is a story I thoroughly enjoyed. It provided light moments along with scenes that provoked significant emotion. The give and take in the dialogue between Ruby and Jax is very enjoyable. Nicola Marsh brought a heroine in Ruby who had no hang ups in getting close and personal with Jax. She is sassy and fearless.
