Geekus Interruptus by Mickey J Corrigan - September 2013 Re-release

New Cover

Originally read by the RBH team in May, the funny and entertaining hot short story; Geekus Interruptus by Mickey J Corrigan has been re-released by Bottom Drawer Publications with a new cover and minor copy edits after original publisher closed.

Marcy has had enough of being ignored by her husband, Jess who's always closeted away doing whatever geeky stuff he does with his computer.  Marcy wouldn't know, she's not allowed near him.  We meet Marcy as she's convinced Jess is cheating on her.  Well she's not going to take this lying down/standing up/any which way and makes it her mission to  catch him out and catch him back into her bed where he belongs!

Mickey has done a fantastic job of describing Marcy and Jess, I can totally picture them, Marcy is just beautiful, drop dead gorgeous, the girl every guy wants.  She's chosen Jess tho, the skinny jeans kind of wearing software engineer aka computer geek.  Marcy cant believe this is happening to her tries every trick in the book to get Jess to notice her.

With Mickey's style of writing I was completely captured, I wanted to find out if Marcy was successful in catching Jess out. I was laughing out loud at some of the outrageous things Marcy gets up to and most of all I couldn't wait to see how it all turned out in the end.

Geekus Interruptus is an amusing and delightfully naughty little short story which is perfect for any time really; a sneaky read at work, a trip on the bus, waiting in the Dr's room...

If you've already read Geekus Interruptus, it's well worth the re-download and dont forget to take a look at Bottom Drawer Publications, a whole new world opens up for us readers and I found myself marking a quite a few stories for downloading.

I'm looking forward to Mickey's upcoming release thru BDP The Ghostwriters

In today's world, geeks rule. Well not all geeks, as, let's face it, there are still those absolutely drop-dead-gorgeous-to-go- weak-at-the-knees-for hot hunks. But yes the emergence of the geek has ha made it's mark on the woman of today.

Some simply go after the geek because he has  money. However, in the new read from author Mickey J. Corrigan, she tells the story of  how a hotter than hot wild-and-crazy bombshell falls for a geek and it has everything to do with the man himself and nothing to do with his money.

Only after six years of bliss she finds her darling geek withdrawing from her, spending less time with her and giving her little to zero attention, so she comes to the conclusion that he must be cheating.

Now she has three options. One, take the geek for all he's worth. Two start a sizzling hot affair with a sexy neighbour or three, get her geek back in her bed! It all comes down to decisions and thankfully she makes the right one and decides to do a little spy work of her own, but in the end she will be the one getting the shock of her life!

The characters of Marcy and Jess were both written well, the author gave me, as a reader, the perfect description of Marcy, I could clearly see her as this wild and sexy woman who loves to get down and dirty, yet has changed her ways for the man she loves. I liked that the author gave her a quirky, crazy side when it comes to her man. It showed that the love of a good man can change even the worst of people.

Jess was of course nothing like the heroes we find in the romance reads of today.  He's not rippled with muscles nor does he have the looks that can get any kind of woman to simply fall into bed with him. He's just a plain old hard working computer nerd. Sounds pretty boring, right?  Well, to be honest, this character was just exactly that.  Boring! But he wa also a little bit mysterious and that gave him that certain little bit of power to draw you in, wanting to know just what he is up to and with who!

The backdrop settings were average, kind of just blending in with the situation the characters find themselves in, and most of the scenes were played out in the couple's home. I'd have liked the author to give a little bit more description as to what exactly the characters are seeing around them.  Yes, it's a short read, coming in at only four chapters, but still,  a little more attention to detail would have been great.

The dialogue was kept light but with a swear word here and there when the characters get a little stir crazy. I also found myself smiling at the silly lines Marcie throws at Jess every now and then.

The sexual content was not of the high level erotica kind nor of the sugar sweet kind more of a touch and go, making it a bit of a hit and miss in both the sexy and sensual department, as it goes the route of hot and heavy but does not fully make it there , thus not letting me as reader really be able to pick up on the true emotions of the characters, not a major problem but with half the read focusing on why exactly these two got together the full on explosive sex would have let me into their minds just a little touch more.

This is perfect for a quick afternoon read, when your looking for a little something different. A fun and quirky look at a wild and crazy Barbie meeting her own computer geek, with a totally unexpected funny ending!

The author shows definite potential for writing great reads that will make a impact.

Geekus Interruptus by Mickey J. Corrigan

What is a beautiful " Barbie " like wife to do when she believes her geek of a husband is cheating? Why go to a spyware store of course!

In this short novel by Mickey J. Corrigan, we find Marcy at a loose end as to why her husband Jess is no longer interested in her. He is staying behind closed doors, working late and traveling out of own on weekends. Marcy realizes just how bad things have gotten when she is tempted by a neighbor into having an affair. Not wanting to lose Jess or her marriage, she sets out to get to the bottom of their problems.

Jess Margate really does love his wife, but he doesn't find her intellectually stimulating. So he has found a way to challenge himself. What he doesn't realize is his new passion and obsession is taking a toll on his marriage. We are looking at a true geek here.

The characters were well written. Jess was believable as a geeky nerd, and Marcy came across as neurotic at times, which gets explained near the end of the book. I did have an issue with Marcy's character being paranoid about what Jess is doing, when she needed to question her own actions. But overall nice short story

Geekus Interruptus by Mickey J. Corrigan is a short novella by an able author with an eagle eye for focussing on the details in relationships, romantic/sexual relationships in particular.

This is not the first time I've seen a geek feature as a romantic hero - Libby Mercer and Louise Cusack have both featured computer nerds in their romance novels.  But the premise is an interesting area to explore.  Marcy, a young woman with a high libido, stopped her sleep around lifestyle to concentrate on domestic bliss with Jess.  But all is not well.  Jess the man is present, well some of the time, but when he is, his mind is elsewhere. Marcy debates what she should do and decides to go for the jugular and find out exactly what her nerd is up to.

The answer is surprising.

I liked this story.  I know Mickey J. Corrigan writes erotica and sure enough, the ration of passion was there. The usual erotica trip, albeit condensed. Certain body parts hardening, others liquifying, the whole arousal trip then hey, it doesn't happen.  The big let down.  Of course when fulfilment comes, the earth moves (doesn't it always?  At least in novels).

A satisfying ending and lessons are learnt all round.  If you like short, fun, sexy reads, grab this one.

Falling in love with the guy of your dreams is every woman's dream of happy ever after. But falling in love with your best friend and him not loving you back in the non friendship way, has to be just plain awful and heart breaking.

In this read it is however, exactly what happens to Brina. She has been in love with her best friend Eagan for years, only he sees and treats her like his best friend and only best friend.

A sudden death brings them closer with a explosive kiss, but it also tears them apart as Eagan lets Brian go and makes no move to try and discover what their attraction can bring. The real reason behind him letting her walk away is later revealed and thus explains it to me as reader, however for poor Brina it hurts as it just reinforces her believe that she is in love with a man that will never love her back.

The author then takes the read to a twist when she eventually brings these two together, but then starts peeling back layers of emotions and complications from both Eagan and Brina's side. And right here is where the read became a very familiar one, and it was to me as if I was reading the 50 shades of grey trilogy only the settings and character names were changed and the sex scenes a little less explicit.

The reason I am saying 50 shades is a simple one, we have a inexperienced heroine who has now finally landed her man, but the man is the dominant kind, and for me Brina is pushed into almost every situation by Eagan, he makes the decisions and she just goes with the flow because the only words she has running through her mind is " I am finally in the arms of Eagan and he loves me".Even a bathroom scene screamed 50 shades so loudly it was all that was stuck in the back of my mind!

The plot of the read was good but old fashioned and I was hoping that the old twist on from lovers to friends will be done with more flair as the back blurb of this book actually sounded like it could get interesting.

But I was sadly disappointed as it all seemed in the first place "been done before" and also with the 50 shades element being brought into the read which made it so familiar it all just actually irritated me.

The character of Brina was sadly one of those that is needy and so wrapped up in the daze of ' I need a man to help me" that I actually kept wishing she would find some backbone!

Eagan as I said was the dominant type, but he also used his own inner demons, to exploit the inner demons of Brina, not to a full extent but yes the 'We want each other and I can make her submit to me with a few words and touches because she is vulnerable'. And for that reason alone I would gladly give this character a good old whack across the head!

The backdrop setting was good, romantic and had the lovers element nicely incorporated. The dialogue was a bit of a hit and miss, as we have first Brina talking us though her side and then we get Eagan talking us through his side, so yes liked that I got to see it through both their eyes but I am not so much a fan of the first person dialogue that made up a large part of this read.

I recommend this read for fans of romances with a erotic feel, but if your no fan of  repeat situations and scenes that have been done before , and this time around there being no new wow factor than this read is not for you.

I have always found the men in uniform totally irresistible, sexy and just plain HOT!

It has to be the power they can hold or maybe the muscle, or the fact that they will protect their woman like one of their own men in battle or heck maybe it is their "guns", what ever the reason men in uniforms know how to turn a woman on!

In this read I was introduced to sexy soldiers, with various ranks,  from all over doing their thing and doing their woman the way they like.

From being in control, to being kind, sweet and sensitive, to being totally out of control and ensuring their woman get the best sex of their lives, and also in some really public places I might add, which really left the pages ablaze with all kinds of sexual scenario's!

Yes ladies this read had it all ! And I do mean all, the characters ranged from kind, caring souls who fight for what is right to dark dangerous badboys who change the lives of woman all over the world after just one night.

Each and every author made sure to deliver a impact that will say with me as reader for a long time. There was the spectacular For One Night Only by Allie A. Burrow that will leave you breathless and believing that soul mates do exist.

Then there was also the heart-stopping Taking Command by Zara Stoneley that showed taking control of what you want or in this case of who you want is sometimes the only way to get your man!

Each and every story was hot, sexy, fun and flirty! For those ladies out there looking for a hotter than hot read this one is it, the sex scenes of all books were remarkable and guaranteed to get your heart racing and palms sweating, not to mention the drop-your-pants and give me some soldiers!

I highly recommend this read for lovers of short but powerful romances reads with hot, racy and sexy love scenes. After reading this one you will want to go out and get serviced by your very own uniformed hero!

With erotica - blatantly sexual writing - we are at the controversial end of the scale with romance fiction.  The total opposite of  so-called 'sweet romance' with its hints and implications.  Romance writing can go from sweet to 'spare my blushes' to full on sexual activity, In actual erotica, the sex scenes are  in-your-face.  Sometimes literally.   No romantic language here.  A spade is most definitely a spade.  Body parts are given their actual names, usually the type of names you won't hear in a church or a hospital.

Which is fine if that's what you like.  Consenting adults in private and all that.  People, women especially, usually read romance fiction for the emotional rush, the heady feeling of falling in love.  From what I know, readers of erotica do so to kick start their libido.  So you could call it a form of sex therapy.  When I was thirteen I remember getting all thrilled when I read a Violet Winspear novel and the hero pushed the heroine a little too firmly then 'claimed her lips in a kiss' or words to that effect..  The next scene, she woke up in bed with him.  Full scene censored.  But that was enough.  I.  Was.  Hooked.   Now I'd say 'OMG what a chauvinist' and if I saw my daughters reading stuff like that, I'd be careful to tell them that that type of male behaviour is unacceptable.  An alpha male is one thing.  A bully is another.  But what did I know back then?

The thing about erotic fiction is that the premises may be different but the aim is always to get 'serviced', shall we say? Sorry if I sound all coy, it's my convent educated background playing up here!.   First you get hints, implications, a little lead on here and there.  Then more.  More.  More and more.  The climax of the story usually coincides with the climax of the sexual activity of the protagonists. Which of course is really  no coincidence.

SERVICED VOLUME I is a collection of erotic novellas within one volume,. by a team of competent authors from Breathless Press.  They're all more than up to the mark to write 'hot' and write it most effectively.  I wouldn't say I was a prude, but I took a few days to read this because I wouldn't read it in front of the kids and also because as a housewife, there was no point in reading this, getting all hot and bothered and then having to go and wash the freaking dishes. I'd have probably ended up breaking half of them.  SERVICED VOL. I.is about service people, i.e. active military personnel.  Well, there couldn't be anyone more hungry for a bit of hot loving than a serviceman on leave, now could there?  Except perhaps his lady?  And then, what of the servicewomen?  Military personnel aren't all male anymore, are they?

As a self-confessed vanilla type, who was brought up to believe that sex was sacred and only for private activity, I'm probably not the best person to review a book like SERVICED.  But as Oscar Wilde said, books are well written or badly written, that is all.  And I can recognize good writing when I see it.  And this is that elusive commodity, good writing. Skilled writing.  After all, if you're going to write hot, you might as well 'get it write' so to speak.  And yes, they do.

So if you're a fan of erotic romance, you won't go wrong to pick this up.  It will certainly get your pulse racing.  And a few more things too, I should think.

Well done, Allie A. Burrow and the rest of the group, you've earned your commissions here.  This volume haS been reported to have been selling wildly, so I guess that Volume II will the virtual shelves in due course. .

Ellie is in a slump, has been for the last six months. Her fiancĂ©e left her for another hotter woman. And all this after she had their future all planned out. The only thing that she can focus her attention on for now is helping her best friend from making a mistake.

And for help she goes to her brothers best friend Gideon DeLancy, Mr. I am hotter than the sun and I burn up the sheets with any willing woman, and then discard them for another.

Gideon knows he will live to regret it but to keep Ellie from trouble and as a silent favour to her family that took him under their wings. He goes with the flow and they head out to his estate or rather should I say castle as it is really no ordinary home.

Only once he and Ellie are in confined places and situations together neither one can seem to keep their hands of each other. Gideon makes her feel like a real woman again, after her ex degraded her on every level he could think of. They both decide after their return home sex is off the table.

But once they leave and get back to the city, it proves easier said then done. And yes you guessed it a series of events follow that for me as reader had me rooting for these two all the way.

The author did a brilliant job at taking two lost characters both needing to find peace and come to terms with  the stones life has thrown at them, and brought them together with a bang!

What was interesting was that the author not only pulled the characters past into the mix to show me as reader the reasoning as to just exactly why both have issues that they very clearly need to sort out in order to really move on, but she incorporated the little things such as Ellie crying when she sees a child or the reasoning behind her baggy clothes. Not many authors focus on these and sometimes for me as reader I need to try to pick up on those by using imagination, as you only get the reason why the character is so touchy or guarded. But not really all the situations or comments that set their emotions off.

But this author gave it all, and more by carefully taking me as reader on a journey of self discovery, letting go of the past and finding what you have been looking for is right in front of you.

The book can also be a real eye opener to readers that have suffered verbal and emotional abuse. The book had passion and a level of emotion that brought me to tears.

The dialogue was at times a little bit funny but most of the time really serious. The author also really gave the book that "love set in the country side" feeling with stunning descriptions, she certainly has a very vivid imagination which to me as reader is always very important.

The sex scenes where hot yet a little different, as if you are into the normal ordinary sex scenes from laid back contemporary romances, some instances such as a very sexy mirror scene you might be somewhat shocked. For myself as reader I am never too overly troubled by those or shocked for that matter and I found the sex very tasteful.

If your in the mood for a spicy yet different kind of romance read focusing on learning how to love yourself and the one your with and shake of the past, then this is the read for you.

I have always adored a good contemporary romance and a excellent erotica. This book promised me both with a touch of fantasy.

Dr. Wendee is slightly mentally damaged due to some rather disturbing and very sad events from her past.

With the mental damage I could deal as even in real life these things happen, the erotic scenes were also very good and at first I as reader was thinking sensual, hot, exciting and very highly charged,so yes the author did deliver.

The characters were all normal yet at the same time out of this world. With a Peter Pan "making" his very own Wendee into the woman he craves for his bed, and even some exciting secondary characters that you will not forget, it made for some really interesting reading.

Yes, when reading the back blurb your first thought just as mine had been will be " No way can this be worth it", as it almost sounded a bit too much, but it was worth it as it managed to take me as reader into the world of fantasy meets erotica.

The backdrop setting was exciting due to it's almost secret location. The actual plot was interesting as the   author uses the Peter Pan and the lost boys element to her full advantage but combined it with strong and overpowering erotica making it a hot and sexual read.

I would however not recommend this to those who prefer their erotica's more to the tune of 50 Shades style,or "normal" erotica,as with the fantasy aspect and the mental issues causing disruption in the live of a young boy during this book,it might just be too dark for some readers taste.

The author delivered on the fantasy, romance and erotica elements in a very unique manner.
