Fifth Avenue Series Book 2 : Scandalize Me by Caitlin Crews Fifth Avenue Series Book Two

Reviewed by Desere

Hunter Talbot Grant III is rich, beyond good looking and also sports figure du jour! But he's not your average rich boy wanting to ruffle the feathers of his disapproving family by pursuing a career in sports instead of the family business. Nope this guy has so many levels of deep, dark and dangerous it's downright scary!

Then years ago he lost someone very dear to him and it set him back on so many emotional levels that the man is beyond the repair by even the best of psychologists. So he hides out in the shadows and makes sure his lief is as miserable as possible , all in the name of punishment for not standing up for the one he loved.

But then the chance to take revenge against Jason Treffen, the man responsible for destroying the life of the woman he loved arises and it's game on. Only there is one tiny hiccup, and it comes in the form of the woman sent to tame him.

Zoe Brooks , PR agent extraordinaire never fails to transform the most tarnished of stars and pretty boy Hunter is no different, except this time around there's a catch. Zoe has a secret , she's also been on the receiving end of Jason 's wrong side and she wants revenge just as bad as Hunter does.  But will their out of control attraction stand in the way of getting the job done?

I have always enjoyed the books by this author, particularly because her hero's always start out being very dark , sometimes so dark it truly would scare me if I had to encounter one of them in real life, but the magic lies in the author taking a very dark hero and slowly but surely letting the man evolve into the type that any woman would fall for.

In this read she did it once again, only this time the hero was far darker than any other I have read before. Hunter was so aggressive I could feel his anger pulsing through his veins. Very intense reading !

The character of Zoe was super cool yet very sad. She has such a terrible past it just makes you want to cry your eyes out for this poor woman. But she faces up to each and every single challenge and downfall of life and  I totally loved it !

This is the second book in the Fifth Avenue Series and picks up very nicely with the first book Avenge me by Maisey Yates. Scandalize me takes us deeper into the mystery, and Caitlin Crews of course reveals more secrets but does it in such a manner it only makes you want to beg for more and there is simply no way you can resist wanting to read the final part of the series Expose Me by Kate Hewitt, which is another of my favorite authors so I know I will be in for a heck of a ride.

I will also add that the heat level in this book is super hot, but if you're not into the erotic side of romance this read is not for you. If you however like your hero's as dark in bed as they are in outside the bedroom, this is a sure fire winner of a read!

I highly recommend Scandalize me for anyone and everyone who loves a dark hero gone bad and then brought back out into the light by the woman sent to tame him, what could be more fun! The bonus is that Caitlin Crews wrote it and she knows her stuff !

In Bed with the competition by J.K. Coi

In Bed with the Competition

I love a good office romance. The excitement of the this could mean the end of someone's career if the relationship fails, or what if one of them wants a deal but the other does two and it comes down to the relationship or the deal?

Guaranteed excitement! In the new J.K Coi read we get to know Elizabeth Calson and Ben Harrison. They use to be friends, coworkers and ALMOST lovers. But this all happened before Ben suggested they mix business with pleasure which sent Elizabeth running for the hills, because there is no way she wants to lose her heart to a hotter than hot hotshot tycoon who lives for his take no prisoners attitude,  and then there is the fact that she wants to start her own company. So the entire business - pleasure thing is not for her and she walks away before it gets too hard.

But Ben with his take no prisoners attitude makes sure he always succeeds in getting everything he wants , and he wants Elizabeth, but before he could have her she walked away, sparking an all out rivalry war!

Whist competing for the same contract they both end up at a Caribbean conference and the attraction is too hot to handle. Ben still has his sights firmly set on finishing what they started but Elizabeth is still set on not losing her heart, her clothes and a few other inhibitions sure, but not her heart, no way! The question that remains is of course, can Ben make her see a business - pleasure relationship has nothing to do with him loving her more than life itself?

I really liked this read, most office romance reads have the same flow of events. The couple meet at work or through an office event, get down and dirty with each other and then pop, it becomes some kind of mess and the atmosphere in the office is downright uncomfortable.

But in this read it was a fun new twist with both main characters having their own companies and going up against each other, okay so they get into each other too, but that of course just made it more exciting. I loved the I want you, you want me but this will cause an issue vibe it made for some very entertaining reading.

I adored the character of Ben, loved his go get 'em attitude. It made him sexier than Ryan Gosling stripped naked! Elizabeth was a bit of a frustrating character at first, simply because I could not wrap my mind around her being so extremely determined to no fall for Ben. But after a while I tried placing myself in her shoes and I realized that when you put your heart and soul into anything or a as Elizabeth a company then it is never an easy decision to make when it comes to risking it on something that could have you lose it all.

I am taking away a message of life is filled with risks, some work out and other don't. But when it comes to risk taking you need to find that perfect balance between wanting it all and knowing you need it all. If you only want the glory that goes with success then go for it, but remember that all the glory of success will not bring you happiness when you find yourself alone with stacks of money and no love. If you know you need it all, then find a way to balance the success and love because somewhere in between you are going to find the right balance allowing you to have the best of both worlds.

I recommend this read for all fans of good, passionate, entertaining, fun and sexy romance reads.

Back In Her Husband's Arms by Susanne Hampton

We have all heard the stories about a man and woman being married but not really ever communicating with each other , other than in the bedroom.

The sex is good, the certain level of love is there, but the actual knowing each other inside and out is just non existent. So the ultimate ending is sadly divorce. In the new read from author Susanne Hampton this is the life of Sara Fielding and her very soon to be ex husband Tom. She wants a family so badly she can rock the baby in her arms already but Tom feels this is the one thing he cannot give her.

Their passionate and stormy marriage ends. But time brings them back together and they have one more passionate night together, it's the one memory that will last a lifetime, after that there will be nothing left.

Until Sara's new job unexpectedly finds her working closely with Tom.  And soon this leads to them learning more about each other than ever before, this leads to a new relationship blossoming. Only Tom has a deep, dark secret that could either bring Sara back into his arms or take her away for good this time.

This was a very sweet and sensual lovers reunite, second chance read. The suspense build up to just why Tom does not feel he can give Sara a family was nicely timed and did not seem too dragged out. I liked the emotion in this read very much, some medical romances just have an overload of emotion that yes makes me cry just as bad as this read did, but it is such an overflow of different emotions that it feels as if I am lost because my heart is trying to absorb all the different emotions and I don't know which one feels the strongest, this did not happen in this read and I was able to balance it all, nice work Susanne!

The characters were both unique in their own right and each one had a good set of issues to deal with. Tom's reasoning behind his secret felt new and fresh in some way, even though it has been done before. Sara was a interesting character to read about and her feeling so very lost with a whole new set of emotions made me cry my eyes out. I did feel more than once like I waned to give Tom a good shake and yell at him to just wake up and see what is right in front of him before it's too late.

The ending of this read was particularly sweet, I felt my heart soar and that special love always wins feeling spread right through me. I am taking away a message of one should never think that just love is enough to see you through in a relationship, if there is no actual proper communication you will never really truly know the other person, and if you don't know them they will remain a closed book with secrets that can and will destroy any form of love you might have had. Always communicate, if you don't there is no point in having a relationship at all.

I recommend this sweet, sensual and very touching second chance read for all fans of romance reads.

Back In Her Husband's Arms

What a beautifully written and loving story about two people who are meant to be and have their shot at a second chance.

Sara unexpectedly runs into her ex husband Tom and they share a passionate one-off night together.  They're nearly divorced, papers have been signed, just waiting on the official stamp.  This will get each other out of their systems and let them carry on their seperate ways... after all Australia far away from Texas where Sara is heading.

Unfortunately three weeks later Sara and Tom meet again at the hospital they're both working at, Sara is just filling in until she's off to Texas.  Being in close contact stirs up feelings that Sara wants to leave buried.  She wishes so hard that Tom was having an affair of sorts with his secretary but noooo, she's happily married.  Of course there's more hurdles and when Sara finds out she's pregnant to Tom the world plummets.  It's the very reason they divorced.  Tom doesnt want kids and Sara dreams of being a Mom.

Back in Her Husbands arms is proof that two characters can back in love again - well actually Tom and Sara never fell out of love, Sara loved Tom more than ever when she made the decision to leave.  Sara is being brave by walking away and Tom is honoring his self made promise about having a family.  Both characters are very likeable and as each page passed I liked them more and more and believed in their story.

I read this book on a cold wintery day and the way it was written made me feel warm inside.  This is Susanne's second book I've read and I think she's found her perfect niche writing warm, sweet and beautifully written medical romances.  The story flowed from start to finish and I would highly recommend to all those who love romance stories that arent filled with conflict and fighting.  This second chance story is filled with renewed and growing friendship coupled with two people who genuinely love each other but cant quite climb the wall that will bring them together.

I was very lucky to receive an ARC and Back in Her Husbands Arms will be read again for sure, thank you Susanne Hampton!
