The Chatsfield Book One : Sheikh's Scandal by Lucy Monroe

Reviewed by Desere

Sheikh Sayed of Zeena is ready to make the ultimate commitment, marry and be happy, but then suddenly his fiance calls off their engagement.

His 'drowning of sorrows' comes in the form of a hotter than the desert sun night with chambermaid Liyah.

Liyah 's father refuses to acknowledge her and she has had more than just a rough life, so of course getting down and dirty with a sexy irresistible sheikh is just what she needs to forget a road she failed to find a happy ending to.

But in their haste to forget their troubles they forget the most important rule of one night stands, and when morning comes Sayed makes the decision to take Liyah and the possible child she might be bearing back to his home.

And if she is carrying his child the answer will be a simple one of marriage. But will his people except Liyah into their lives and more importantly will Liyah be prepared to marry a man who does not love her?

The character of Sayed was kind, caring, sweet and sensitive and not the over bearing ' I am all powerful and you shall do what ever I want you to do simply because of who I am ' kind. Yes he does all but command Liyah to travel back with him, but he does it is what I found a very gentle manner. I loved that he takes everyone's feeling into consideration, a true gentleman that makes your heart melt with every word. Him not revealing feelings before he is absolutely certain was a stunning touch from the author. It showed that it is always important to never mislead people when we ourselves are not sure of what is going on. Keep it under wraps till you are certain or else only heartache will come, lies are never the answer.

The character of Liyah was the one that broke my heart. I wanted to cry my eyes out for her past and just hug her and tell her that she has a place where she belongs , she just needs to give it time. She was also very strong yet vulnerable at the same time. This showed me that we can all be strong but not so strong that we come off as mean. There is a certain balance needed when trying to show you are not strong enough to break apart at the slightest problem but that you are not made of steal and still have a heart when it comes to other things in life when caring is needed.

I am no big fan of sheikh related reads, but ever so now and then I do find a author that does it all just right. Bringing me a sheikh hero that hits all the right notes, and from now on Lucy Monroe will be on my auto to buy list. I enjoyed the drama unfolding between Sayed and Liyah, it had the right balance of dramatic emotional upsets and romantic passion and that perfect hint of sweetness.

I am taking away a message of life will take us to the one we are meant to be with when we least expect it to happen, and even if seems the forces are against you, hang in there. There is light at the end of the tunnel or in the case of this read there is water at end of a long dry dessert road.

I highly recommend this read for all fans of romance reads with a sweet flare and heartfelt emotion.

Overview by Desere

Babies, babies and more babies! The series is all about how the royal's from around the world find themselves suddenly thrown together by the power of a new life.

From the the very far corners of the world six talented authors bring us the short stories of six couples who all have each have one incredible night that leads to a lifetime of happiness, but only after all obstacles have been cleared, and there are many, tradition, laws, arranged marriages, no talk of love, past hurt and anger it's all there!

In Sheikh's Baby Bombshell by Melanie Milburne we meet Abby, out on the prowl for one night of incredible hot sex with a stranger to ward of old memories and pain, what she finds is Talib. He turns her life upside down in and out of bed. But Abby is not up for settling for marriage without love.

In His Pregnant Mistress by Maisey Yates we see how Princess Alys who one night gathers all her courage and goes after the man she loves, only her bodyguard Liam is not interested in her heart he is only there for her body, and this princess will have to offer up everything to prove a point.

In Scorsolini Baby Scandal by Lucy Monroe Kiki and Mich each hide their royal titles in order to be loved for who they really are, but when the truth is revealed it might destroy or cement their relationship , only their love for each other will show the way forward.

In The Queen's Nine Month Scandal by Abby Green the pure pressure of being ruler of a country since the age of nine and always being guarded and never truly alone leads Queen Analia to run for one night straight into the arms of Daniel. The no names mask remains on game of incredible sex turns to a very real problem instead of a memory when the Daniel opens the newspaper to find a headline : Virgin Queen Pregnant.

In The Accidental Heir by Susan Stephens we meet Princess Astrid, she went from barely getting by every month to luxuary beyond her wildest dreams. But with her new found magical life comes responsibility to bare a heir, the royal council does not care how or with who , she just needs to get it over with. So when Prince Karl comes along she can hardly resist but will he think she trapped him just because she had no choice or does the Princess truly care?

In His Royal Love Child by Lynn Raye Harris tells the story of young lovers being reunited. But Charlotte is not her mother and being mistress to Prince Luca, she simply will not share the man she loves with another woman, only when she is carrying a part of Luca how can she not take him anyway she can have him. Love is  the strongest emotion.

The books can be read as stand alone's in any order and do not link into each other. In some of the reads I found the author used secondary characters from previous books. Each book contains between five to nine chapters, very short chapters and therefore does not take longer than twenty to thirty minutes to read.

Very entertaining, passionate, sensual and sexy reads, each one great for a afternoon pick me up read!

Being loved for who you are is something we all crave. You want your other half to accept you with flaws, faults, good and bad. As the line goes, for better of worse!

But when you have a title to add to the front of your name it is never easy, people tend to think they need to love you because of the power you have, or thinking if they can win you over they will be able to walk away with your fortune.

So understandably if it were me in such a position I would also not be too keen to reveal the true me with the title attached. I would much rather just be me as the person instead of the titleholder so to speak.

In the new Lucy Monroe read this is the case for Kiki and Mich, they both come from powerful, strong families. They meet and instantly fall in love, but neither one reveals their titles. They are wrapped in a bubble of love and even when Kiki drops the pregnancy bombshell it does not blow the whirlwind love out of the works. No they marry and are instantly happier than ever. That is until reality comes knocking on the door. And the truth is revealed, will it shatter their love or make it stronger than before ?

The character of Kiki was great, however I would have liked her to be a little older. She seemed so very young to fall head over heals. I would have said that the author needed her to be just a few years older , it would have given me as reader a more " I have been there done that" character, more grown up. But at the same time I understood that the author was trying to show that Kiki has not truly experienced life due to always being guarded and her every move watched. But I do feel the author could still have pulled it off without letting the Kiki be so young. That aside the character was fun to read and I liked that she is towards the end of the read more determined to stand up and speak her peace than she was before having it all within her grasp.

The character of Mich was one I loved from the start. The man is sex on legs and simply oozes charm and sophistication. I loved that the author lets him have a take it all in stride handle what ever comes along attitude in life even though he knows he has much more to face in the upcoming years of his life. I simply adored the manner in which he protects Kiki against anyone and everything that even so much as dares to speak any unkind words about her, it showed the perfect "I love you and you are my life " hero.

The backdrop setting was romantic, carefree and fun. But the author also very nicely linked in the possible emotional trauma of what could or might go wrong when she brings the characters to the palace, where it is all about authority.

The dialogue was sweet and sensual, pure romance from page one! This read is part of the Royal Baby Short reads collection and therefore only contained six chapters.

But you might be thinking that the characters going from meeting, falling into bed and then getting married during the first four chapters that this is not true romance as the in between getting to really move around the problems that arise when the truth is revealed is not fully explored.

But the author's intensity and passion between her characters more than make up for it all, she shows love at first sight as truly being able to happen and last a lifetime!

I am taking away a message of when someone loves you for you and not for a title you carry with you, it is the best kind of love anyone can ask for. For that person sees the true you beneath all the royal-ness of it all, and your title is simply that, only a title.

I recommend this read for all fans of whirlwind romances that leads to unexpected paths.

One Night Heir by Lucy Monroe

In One Night Heir, Crown Prince Maksim is about to propose to Gillian Harris, when he receives medical records showing that it would be very "unlikely" that Gillian would be able to conceive a child. After an intense night of passion, he ends their relationship. Gillian is totally devastated, as she believed he was going to propose.

Maks does not believe in love, having not seen it between his parents. While he cares for Gillian and really hated the idea of breaking up with her. But he is also Duty bound, and must produce an Heir. I liked how he was willing to do just about anything to get her back, but was still honest.

Nine weeks later Gillian is in total shock, but totally overjoyed with her surprising news. Deciding to keep her pregnancy to herself until she passes her third month, and the risk of miscarriage goes down. She is very shocked when Maks shows up on her doorstep, confronting her about the baby and asking her to marry him.

While Gillian character is broken hearted, she is also much stronger than maybe even she knew. I really felt a connection to her character. And loved how she didn't drop everything when he appeared at her front door. She was demanding and let Maks know while she still loved him, she would not marry him without a pre-nup to protect her and the baby.

There were a number of things I really enjoyed about this book. The passion between the two. How Gillian reacted when Maks breaks up with her, PRICELESS.

A couple of things I did not enjoy. Maks had not proposed yet so I was not buying the part of the story line where she went to his doctor and he got a copy of the report. And the epilogue, it was a little to brief and really didn't say much.

I received an ARC " Advanced Readers Copy " of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
