Married to the Mom to Be by Helen Lacey ( Cedar River Cowboys #4)

Married to the Mom to Be
by Helen Lacey
Review by TashNz | 5 Stars

A story I read word for word, not skipping a single sentence or page and one which I was so caught up in I fell asleep with it in my hand well after midnight.

It was lovely to be back in Cedar River and I settled back to enjoy a lovely story but it wasn't just lovely, it was heart catching, dramatic, exciting and so wonderfully written I devoured every word!

Liam and Kayla are expecting a baby, we find that out in the first sentence! They are in love so all good there BUT their parents are in a family feud with each other for the past 30 years. They know this will not go down well and especially Kayla worries this will break her Daddys heart... imagine how they the parents and the small town will feel when their secret relationship can't be held secret any longer, let alone find out they are already married!

Liam's love shines through all the way and he won me over! 6 stars for me!

Married to the Mom-to-Be is another fantastic read by Helen Lacey. This book is the third in the Cedar River Cowboys series, each book in the series can be read as a stand-alone although every book I’ve read so far is amazing so you wouldn’t want to miss out on reading the other friends’ stories.

In this book Kayla Rickard and Liam O’Sullivan is secretly married. The older Rickard’s and O’Sullivan’s are arch enemies and it will break their hearts to find out that their children got married. Then Kayla discovered she is pregnant and their time is up to come clean about their relationship.

I really enjoyed the flow of the story, the way the characters developed and the easy writing style that Helen Lacey has. I recommend this book to any romance lover.

MARRIED TO THE MOM-TO-BE by author Helen Lacey is a Harlequin Special Edition series release for April 2017.

Kayla Rickard is married and expecting Liam O’Sullivan’s baby. And Liam happens to belong to the family of her dad’s biggest enemy. How could Kayla explain to her dad that she loves Liam?

What is the secret which made Liam’s family enemy to Kayla’s family? Would revealing that secret tear the families and Kayla and Liam apart or bring them together? Interesting and intriguing.

Married to the-Mom-To-Be is one emotional story full of angst and tension. We know Liam loves Kayla and she knows it, yet they are forced apart by circumstances. Author Helen Lacey brought this tale to life on the pages shimmering with emotional intensity. We root for Liam and Kayla to get together and stay engrossed by this story till the end to see how and when it happens.

Highly recommended for all readers of romance.

This is a fabulous story I savoured every word so much emotion and love coming from the beautifully written words. MS Lacey has penned a story that will stay with me for a long time it is set in a beautiful small town that we have gotten to know well in previous stories. This time we get hotelier Liam O’Sullivan and gorgeous Kayla Rickard’s story and we get to see what happens when love breaks down a family feud that has lasted for years.

When a car accident in the hotel car park shoots lightening sparks between Liam and Kayla well what can they do except enact on those sparks but keep their relationship a secret for the time being, Kayla is a loving only child and will not do anything to hurt her parents but when she falls head over heels for the guy she has been warned to stay away from all of her life well more than sparks are going to fly.

Liam has always been used to getting his own way as the eldest of the O’Sullivan boys he is now running the hotel and when cupid shoots her arrow and well Kayla is everything he wants in a woman, he cannot help falling in love, but their road to a HEA is a rocky one with stubborn wills getting in the way even after their secret wedding in Vegas and now with a baby on the way he needs to stand up and show that love.

Kayla and Liam’s secret is going to rock both families and the small town of Cedar River, so many emotions and hurts and headstrong people that think they know best will have you turning the pages to see what is going to happen next and how they fare. This one is sensual and very moving I did shed a few tears along the way and felt like yelling at a couple of people as well, but in the end I was smiling big time I loved this one and am very much looking forward to the next one in this series and going back to Cedar River. I do highly recommend this one.

A fun and easy read as Helen Lacey takes us on a journey of forbidden love, deception and finding peace. Guilt and duty are at the top of the list of what the heroine is feeling. She's difficult to like because she's not being fair to him at all, but you're still drawn to the story because he's such a nice guy that you're wanting a happy ending for. Lots of drama with well developed characters and story lines.

Kayla Rickard is in quite the predicament. Not only has she been having a fling with the son of her father's sworn enemy, but she secretly married him and they're now expecting a surprise baby! The last thing she wants to do is disappoint her parents, but it's not like this is the type of thing she can sweep under the rug.

Liam O'Sullivan wants his wife by his side. It feels empty in his house without her, but she still persists on staying at her apartment too much and refuses to tell their families about them. Now that she's pregnant, she has to see that it's way past time. He'll do anything to be able to share his life in the open with her ... even try to figure out what caused the feud that made their formerly friendly fathers begin to hate each other. When they get way more than they bargained for and huge secrets are exposed, they are left to deal with the fallout in addition to exposing their relationship

Helen Lacey always writes an awesome story with love, suspense, and makes you want to keep reading till that book is finished. So far none of her books have disappointed me.
There has been a feud going between Rickard family and O’Sullivan family for lots of years. However, love does not listen to feuds and family being against each other.
Kayla Rickard wanted a family and be married well with the right man. She meets Liam O’Sullivan and finds him irresistible. She knows right from wrong however, the heart wants what it wants and Liam feels too she is the right one.
Kayla & Liam eloped to Vegas and as typical “what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas” style they return to their homes and just meet up in secret. But when Kayla is pregnant all that must change.
Please consider reading this book and series as you will not be disappointed.

"Married to the Mom-To-Be (The Cedar River Cowboys)" by Helen Lacey is a wonderful, quick read. Liam O'Sullivan and Kayla Rickard have one big thing stacked against them. Their families hate each other. Even though this is a really big problem the two are secretly married to each other and they're expecting a baby. Kayla is very wishy washy with her marriage and wanting to keep it a secret from her parents. Liam has been patient with her and respecting her wishes to keep their private lives separate from their families. There are things in the past that come forward, and makes sense as to way the families don't like each other.

This story is part of the Cedar River Cowboys series. Its always nice to go back to Cedar River.
Kayla and Liam fall in love despite a ongoing war between there parents. Managing to keep the romance and quickie wedding in Las Vegas a secret. Until Kayla finds out she is pregnant.
Kayla and Liam are a case of opposites attract. Liam is a black and white guy with a high moral code. While Kayla sees shades of grey. They butt heads several times trying to sort this situation out.
Can they see each others point of view and work things out? If you are a fan of small town contemporary romance then pick up a copy.

Make sure you grab a copy of this book! Married to the Mom-to-be by Helen Lacey is pure reading delight. The characters instantly charm and captivate you. I was blown away with the drama, the romance, the secrets and the intense passion. Actually, the chemistry between Kayla and Liam is so tender and yet so hot. There were times when I laughed at the hilarity in certain scenes and at times I wanted to smack both Kayla and Liam for wanting to please other people. But their generous hearts still had love for their family and that I respect. In the end, I was impressed with the writing, the plot and the storytelling. I thought Helen Lacey did a wonderful job and can't wait to see what book she'll come up with next!

Married to the mom to be ,is another great story by Helen Lacey.  A real problem exists when Kayla Rickards finds out she is pregnant by Liam O'Sullivan.  Why a problem lets list a few. First his family is on the no no list with her family as a family feud year old exists.  Second problem is Kayla wants to keep it a secret from her family that she is having Liam's baby because the final problem is she is secretly married to Liam.  The saying about a tangled web and deceit truly come to past in this story.  However their problems make it a riveting story and you will be so looking forward to see how they solve the problem.  A lovely book and a great addition to the Cedar River Cowboys series.  Ms. Lacey always leaves you with a warm feeling at the end of her books.  Enjoy its a great story.

Helen Lacey creates a modern day Romeo and Juliet scenario without the characters dying. LOL. There is no doubt that Kayla and Liam are completely in love and lust with each other. Their connection is intense and their passion flares instantly. However, they both have been raised with a hatred for the other’s family. Sadly, this happened between their fathers over 30 years ago. Will they be able to sustain a relationship after they learn the truth or will it destroy their chance at a happy marriage?

I loved this book because it felt different even though it’s an age old theme. There was a lot of communication between the characters but still times when you wanted to shake them into seeing that their relationship was important too! Great read!

THE COWGIRL’S FOREVER FAMILY by author Helen Lacey is a September 2016 release by Harlequin Special Edition series. This is Book 3 of Helen Lacey’s mini-series: The Cedar River Cowboys.

But Tyler was a commitment phobic corporate lawyer from the big city. And the baby was someone else’s. He was looking for the baby’s dad.

We are back in Cedar River again and this time Brooke Laughton is going to meet the man who will inevitably sweep her off her feet but first she has to open up to top New York Lawyer Tyler Madden who has shown up on her doorstep with the thing that Brooke craves more than anything a baby a beautiful baby girl Cara who turns out to be her niece, but of course Brooke's brother is missing and Tyler is determined because of a promise he made to Cara's dying mother to ensure that little Cara will be returned to her father. Tyler has worked hard and really has no plans to marry but there is a spark that starts when Brooke and him first meet and it will grow.

Helen Lacey always writes the most heartwarming, sensual and deeply touching small-town romances I have grown to savor. The Cowgirl’s Forever Family is yet another beautifully written, fast-paced, character driven story that will keep you riveted from beginning to end.

Having a family of her own is something Brooke Laughton will never have until one day Tyler Madden shows up at her doorstop with a baby girl in tow. Could this be her forever family? As it turns out the child is Brooke’s niece—the daughter of her missing brother. During the wait for her brother’s return sparks fly between the hunky lawyer and the cowgirl and it isn’t before long that thoughts of forever together create something incredibly beautiful between Tyler, Brooke and little Caro!

She left the country life for the city and didn't really want to come back home but her sister needed to come home. Plus, when she came back she found that her father was in the early stages of dementia. The draw to be with Brett pulls on her emotions, and after a 10 year absence their love is still there.

Her Christmas Cowboy by Helen Lacey is a charming, romantic novella about finding true love. It tells the story of Elyse Prescott and Brett McCrane. Elyse has returned home after years of living and working in the city. Maybe it’s destiny that she runs into Brett just as she arrives. Crossing each other’s path resurfaces the past where romance had never been enough to keep Elyse in Denary. Could she and Brett finally find the happiness they so deserve after so many years?

Review by Cheryl - 5 Stars

I have read books by Helen Lacy before and she certainly did not disappoint me with her book this time either.

Elyse Prescott grew up on the farm but it was not in her blood to stay there. She wanted the city life and left and is just now making a visit back to the farm and her father. Elyse is a lawyer who has a very busy schedule and a few days prior her 18 year old sister Billy-Jean turned up at her doorstep with a 3 month old baby named Jackson on her hip. The three of them headed back to their father and also to see the father of Jackson who has not clue that he is a father.

Her going back to Denary, Queensland means also seeing Brett McCrane, her high school sweetheart who broke her heart, and whom she has not seen in 10 years. It was all a shock for everyone involved. She found her own father with the onset of Dementia, she found her family farm about to be foreclosed on and some unexpected feelings she still had for Brett. She really wants to go head back to the city but her family; the farm and all need her.

Brett’s younger brother Rick just happens to be Jackson’s father.

Sparks are still there between Brett and Elyse but she is determined to head back to the city. But when she is back in the city and has a busy schedule her secretary announces that she has a visitor who does not have an appointment. It is non-other than Brett who comes willing to do whatever to win her back. He is willing to even sell his family farm to do so.

Her Christmas Cowboy by Helen Lacey is quick read story about a woman returning to her home town 10 years after breaking up with her boyfriend and moving to the city to pursue her career. She reconnects with the man she could never forget and they iron out their differences.

The characters are easy to relate with, Elyse thought she knew what she wanted out of life but could never get over her first love. She always had a feeling of being incomplete until she realised that her career is not more important than being with Brett. Brett tried his best to move on with his life after Elyse left. He even got married before he realised he couldn’t give his wife the life she deserves and the marriage ended.

This story is reminder that it is never too late to find happiness even if you make a couple of mistakes in life. Helen Lacey always writes enjoyable books and I would recommend her books to any romance lover.

A story of second chances. Elyse Prescott has all she wants since a young girl. She spent most of her life on a farm but she always wanted to be in the city now she is living her dream. All was right in her world until her sister shows up with Jackson her 3 month old baby. Her sister wants her to return to her home town of Denary with her which doesn't make her happy as she realizes that she is going to have to see people she would rather not. However she knows her sister must let Jackson's father know about the baby. Seeing her lost love after 10 years isn't the only surprise, her father has onset Dementia her family farm is up for foreclosure and all she wants to do is run back to the city. Sounds like a plan but even when she goes back to the city she loves she knows she can't just walk away, knowing how much she is needed. Realizing she still has feelings for Brett is the hardest part but Helen Lacey always gives you that warm loving feeling in her stories, so you know somehow Elyse will realize that you can go home, actually go home and be happier than you thought possible. Always a fantastic story is given by Ms. Lacey and this is another example of her wonderful writing. Loved it.

Lucy & The Lieutenant by Helen Lacey

A wonderful read filled which in a beautiful way the author wound the story right around me and I was snuggled in the midst of it all Easter Monday.  Quite a heart warming story where everyone in town knew ex military man Brandt Parker loves Dr Lucy Monero – except him.  While he fails to see it because he’s wrapped up in his military past Dr Lucy Monero lays her lil heart on the line and spends most of the story trying to figure out if her teenage crush is worthy of her love.

Set in small town Cedar River, Brandt was quite likeable and had just enough mystery surrounding him that you really wanted to know what was bothering him.  He had lovely family who were secondary characters and helped make it a heartwarming story.  Lucy was quite the opposite in the way that she had no one and it made her all the more endearing.

I usually am a “Presents” kind of girl and don’t often go for the small town girl kind of story in a town where everyone knows your name so when I pick one up and it consumes me till I reach the last page Im the first to say – don’t pass this one by.  I'm especially happy to see there is more stories featuring Lucy’s fab friends.  I even got teary when Lucy did her goodbye speech and felt all sad for her.  Wonderful writing Helen Lacey!

The Virgin and The Veteran perfectly describe this love story. Dr. Lucy Monero thought she was the world’s oldest virgin in the world. She had a crush on a neighbor back in high school. She still had it through college, through medical school and now as a doctor. Brant Parker had barely noticed her through high school and then went off to the army and now was out and returned to his home town, which was Lucy’s hometown too.

They both had something in common. Lucy lost her father at an early age, then her mom was killed in a car accident and then her friend in college had been sexually assaulted and she was determined to stay away from guys. Brant had been through several tours in Afghanistan and part of his group had died and it should have been him. He had PTSD and was someone who was more for the one night stands and never saw himself as the marrying kind.

Brant had purchased a burnt out bar and was going to make it usable again and do the work mostly himself. He was a loner. He was carrying his own demons.

Lucy had already worked through most of hers and was throwing herself into work also. Her friend felt it time for her to find love. But she only had eyes for Brant.

Helen Lacey had a fantastic way of showing us how 2 people with their sides of issues could come together. They may have to have their feelings sometimes pointed out by others and yet they did find love. They found it with each other.

Helen Lacey creates the most believable settings that add layers of characteristics to her well-rounded, three-dimensional characters whose stories are full of small-town charm. In her latest offering, Lucy & the Lieutenant, Ms. Lacey takes readers on a passionate journey where her hero Brandt Parker and Dr Lucy Monero are tempted by the sight of each other. But the emotional baggage that both Lucy and Brandt carry takes precedence on their attraction. The strides they take in helping each other heal creates tension and drama…keeping the reader engrossed. Great dialogue, descriptive scenes and a well-written story is sure to find favor with loyal fans of Ms. Lacey and the Harlequin Special Edition fan-base!

I enjoyed revisiting Crystal Point and catching up with what my favourite characters are doing.  But be warned!  This is not what you might call a predictable story.

So what’s it to be?  Read and enjoy!  This family story is lots of fun.

"The CEO's Baby Surprise" by Helen Lacey is a quick, easy and lovely read. We have Mary-Jayne Preston, M.J., who is one of the good girls. She is watching her friends boutique in a hotel and meets Daniel. Daniel Anderson is the CEO of the hotel and sweeps M.J off her feet.

After a very HOT one night together M.J. leaves but Daniel wants more time together with her intimately, and she is looking for more than being the girl he comes to just for sex. Daniel who is a widower whose wife and unborn child died wants the fun, but not the commitment. That is until he finds out their one night has consequences and M.J. is pregnant.

You'll love this story. It makes you root for this couple and hope that things turn out well in the end. Much more to the book than what I've given you but it is definitely worth the read.

The saying never say never comes true in this wonderful read from Helen Lacey. Mary-Jane Preston never does one night stands until she comes face to face with an out of control attraction that completely overpowers her. The attractions comes in the form of Daniel Anderson, he's devastatingly handsome , suave and everything a girl could want, except for the last four years he has made sure to never let his guard down, letting it slip will just bring tragedy to his life again.

So when Mary-Jane informs him that their one night stand has resulted in her being pregnant with twins , he 's all for marriage to make sure their twins are protected but falling in love with her is the one thing he refuses to do. But Mary-Jane doesn't just want his ring and his protection she wants his heart and fight to get it is what she will do.

This is one of those books that will stay with romance readers for a long time after the last page has been read. I adored the character of Mary-Jane, even with everything the world of an unexpected pregnancy brings she still holds her head high, and even still sees the humor in life. Spunky, fun and just so very likable, that I doubt any reader will be able to find fault with her.

Daniel was the one that my heart broke for, the heartache and loss he faced in the past really is something no one ever has to go through. He is a truly broken man and of course in desperate need of some serious tender loving care. But as we all know not every broken person wants to let anyone in so the author letting Mary-Jane be this really awesome in your face try and make me go away kin of character was really neat.

It's a stunning story of romance, new hope and all set within the perfect bubble of beautiful writing. I highly recommend this read for all lovers of romance journeys with powerful emotion and a message of there is always being a new tomorrow.
