Wedding Date with the Army Doc by Lynne Marshall (Summer Brides #$2)

Wedding Date With The Army Doc (Harlequin Medical Romance) by Lynne Marshall
Reviewed by Helen - 5 Stars

This is such a good story moving and emotional as MS Marshall Takes on a subject that can be controversial and she has done this so well truly this is a story that had me turning the pages.

We meet Pathologist Charlotte Johnson she is very pretty she is a caring and hard working person she is also single and aims to stay that way after her fiancĂ© walked out on her after she had an operation that she had thought a lot about and decided that it was the best thing to save her life but it is also a major life changing operation but Charlotte is positive, you see she lost her Mum when she was young to breast cancer and that pushed her into the job that she loves and her decision. But when she meets Dr Jackson Hilstead Charlotte’s life is about to change and in such a beautiful way.

Dr Jackson Hilstead has moved to California left everything behind in Charlestown to start a new life divorced and getting over PTSD after being badly injured in Afghanistan Jackson has a prosthesis and the couple of woman he has gotten close to since moving shy away and with two sons already children and marriage is not what he wants but he is drawn to the beautiful pathologist Charlotte this could be what he needs to bring out the best in him again and make him happy.

This really is a must read story it is beautifully written the caring and loving Charlotte and Jackson are so drawn to each other but with scares from their past it takes a bit of time for them to take the plunge to find true love. Charlotte’s decision to have the surgery is handled so well I shed some tears but was smiling throughout this one, the scenery is fabulous as well. I highly recommend this story I loved it. It is part of a small series Sumer Brides but can be read as a standalone but I am looking forward to the other one in this series.

I've just recently said that Lynne Marshall writes stories that are not always the norm for this type of genre and I feel she approaches her stories with such a solid depth that you always have a big sigh at the end of the story.

A GOOD big sigh, especially for Wedding Date with the Army Doc; it represents the emotion of the journey taken on as a reader; it represents the tears that may have been quietly shed during the book, either because things written you can relate to or just because you're all caught up in what you're reading; it represents the happiness of the two characters, in this case Jackson and Charlotte, who achieving their happy ever after and it represents true appreciation of the hard work it must have been to write such an emotional story with a double whammy of heartbreaking topics.

Both topics are approached with caring and sensitivity as well as boldness and I loved how both Jackson and Charlotte got to know each other and liked how the inevitable was handled. I applaud the story and the choice to write about such topics.

I recommend this story if you are looking for something special.

I am never disappointed when I pick up a Lynne Marshall medical romance. Ms. Marshall tends to bring out the best in her characters by delving deep into their pasts, torturing them with the demons they’ve locked away in their dark forbidden closets. In Wedding Date with the Army Doc we meet Charlotte Johnson, a woman who knows pain from the inside out. She has put dating on hold after her surgery. However, when Dr. Jackson Hilstead walks into her life, Charlotte couldn’t help but register the butterflies in her stomach. Could she start dating again if it involves the hot doctor? Jackson is sexy and brilliant at his job but beneath his outward charm is a man who life has beaten and bruised over the years. And Charlotte may very well be the balm Jackson needs to heal his broken soul. Overall, I think Ms. Marshall has done a fine job bringing together Jackson and Charlotte. These two characters compliment each other. They bring out each other’s best qualities. And their journey through the ups and downs makes this book a worthy read.

This book about imperfectly perfect people by Lynne Marshall is all about how life does not stop when tragedies happen. The story talks about the idea that people are beautiful and whole even when a body part is missing because a body part does not a person make.

I'd have rated it a 5 on 5 if not for the fact that both of them had body image issues. Both had some part missing. It felt as if they understood each other because they have been through the same (albeit differently) process of losing something of themselves.

It would have packed more of a punch if one of them did not loose a body part and still understood what the other went through.

Thus, making it a 4.5 for me

"Wedding Date With The Army Doc (Mills & Boon Medical)" by Lynne Marshall is part of the series 'Summer Brides' but it also a read alone book. In this story we have Charlotte Johnson, who has overcome an operation, and Jackson Hilstead who is drop dead gorgeous. He invites her to a family wedding and that just gets Charlotte to thinking about the future. The only problem is that Jackson needs to concur his past in order to move to the future. It's a great, quick read.

Whenever I pick up a Lynne Marshall book I know I will enjoy. This is a must read for sure.
Charlotte Johnson is a pathologist and had an operation that left her feeling different about herself. She had both breast removed and her fiancĂ© could not deal with that. So she has been very leery of any man as she feels that she is not whole. She did it to prevent cancer and yet now she wonders.
Dr. Jackson Hilstead moved to California leaving everything behind. He was injured in Afghanistan and suffered from PTSD. He wears a prosthesis which turns most women off.
However, he finds Charlotte and realizes she has lost a part of her body so she might understand him better than anyone else. Plus, he would understand her also. They move slow and steady.
Body parts missing does not mean no love, hope you will enjoy as I did.

Review by Dottie - 5 STars

Charlotte Johnson spends her life in her pathology lab living the life she feels she wants. She has decided that there is no HEA for her and there will be no husband or children in her future. Enter Jackson Hilstead a surgeon in her hospital and someone she really has feelings for, feelings that she thought she put away forever. Take these two people with secrets of their own and put them together and find out that plans sometimes go astray which will when Jackson asks Charlotte to go to a family wedding with him. Charlotte had made a lifesaving decision she must live with and Jackson has a medical secret also. Both find out that love doesn't change for a medical issue. Ms. Marshall always writes such lovely stories and this is an example. She puts two people feeling they will go the rest of their life alone in touch with each other enough that nothing can stop the course of love

I am loving this series and this one is a beauty how do you tame one of Hollywood's top stars especially since you have known him forever and there is a secret that is very embarrassing to say the least between you but when Liam Carter needs help with a badly sprained ankle he also needs the help of his best friend's sister Grace Watson who is a physical therapist at The Hollywood Hills Clinic. Get ready for a fabulous rocky road to the ultimate HEA.

Grace works hard at her job in the clinic that has some of the top Hollywood actors as patients and the last time she saw Liam Carter was a long time ago and in a very embarrassing situation a lot has happened to Grace since then but she has never forgotten Liam and now here he is needing help that will put them together closely for a few days will this open up her feelings that she has kept under control for so long how is the strong Grace going to cope?

Liam Carter has worked hard to get to where he is today after the life he had growing up it has left him a little scared and so sure he is not the picket fence kind of guy no marriage or relationships for Liam hard work and fun. But when he meets up with Grace again the feelings and emotions he thought buried have come to the surface she pulled at his heart years ago and it seems she still can with her caring and kind ways can she get him to see the truth?

I highly recommend this one it is sensual moving and was a joy to read it had me turning the pages and smiling as the banter between them is so good they have a lot to open up about including that trench coat I won't say anymore other than to say this is a must read.

An awesome addition to a fantastic series. Fast paced, humorous and and a thoroughly enjoyable read which is hard to put down.

Liam needs to attend an important premier but doesn't want the world to know he's injured and can't walk properly. His next project, a life changing, career changing project, depends on it. Enlisting the help of his friend James's clinic, he's put into the hands of the best physio there is, Grace. Unfortunately Grace and Liam go way back and this meeting is awkward times a million.

I loved the fast paced story, the glitzy glamour of the premier, mixed with the behind the scenes look of what probably does happen with celebrities while they're getting ready for their interviews. I loved Grace's no nonsense approach when it came to her job and I loved the back stories and how the characters developed. I also liked that Grace wasn't the Grace that Liam remembers and how he handles her scars and dashed dreams.

In my opinion Amalie Berlin writes with a freshness that's thoroughly enjoyable to read and I throughly recommend this story to anyone who hasn't read medicals before, anyone who's following this series and anyone who's not read Amalie before (and especially if you have).

This story was the sunshine of my day!

"Taming Hollywood's Ultimate Playboy (Mills & Boon Medical)" by Amelie Berlin is part of the series 'The Hollywood Hills Clinic' and can be read as part of the series, since you will meet up with characters from the other books, or as a read alone. In the story we have Grace Watson and Liam Carter. Grace is a physical therapist who works at the clinic, and Liam is an actor who hurt himself when he was running. They come together recently, but also share a past. Liam and Grace knew each other growing up. Her brother and Liam are really close friends, and Grace tried to seduce Liam one night (long before this current connection) of which he rebuffed her seduction. There is quite a bit to this story. We learn about both of their pasts, and see what brings them together. I love this series and their story.

The Hollywood Hills Clinic series is a very well written selection of Medical Romance.
Amalie Berlin caught the real sides of these characters in the book. Grace Watson and Liam Carter have not seen each other in a long time. Liam was Grace’s brothers best friend and Grace had a total crush on him! Last time Grace was wearing a trench coat and lingerie. Liam rejected her then and now they will find out they have to work together to achieve what needs to be done.
Now Grace is a top physical therapist and Liam is a Hollywood hottest property and she needs to get him literally back on his feet.
Grace had tempted him years ago and now tempts him even more. Liam is so sure he does not want the typical marriage with the picket fence or such but when he meets back up with Grace those hidden emotions come bubbling up to the top.
Liam has a big premier coming up and must be on his feet so he does not look like an injured and he has to listen to Grace and follow all her instructions.
You can read one or all of the Hollywood Hills Clinic series and you will enjoy.

They were friends by proxy because Liam Carter was Grace Watson's brother's best friend.

Who does not have a crush on their older brother's hottie of a friend? ;)

She had tried once in the past to be with him but he put forth his honourabe intentions forth and refused. Years later, they are brought together because she is physical therapist and he needs therapy.

A fun to read story where these two people, full of life, try to make sense of what their emotions are and what should they do with them.

Enjoyed the story line so much, I had to finish it one go.

A fun friends-to-lovers story!

When Hollywood heartthrob, Liam Carter injures himself right before a big premier, he can only think of one person that can help him be well enough to make his rounds.

As a top physical therapist at The Hollywood Hills Clinic, Grace Watson doesn't have much of a choice when her boss asks her to be at Liam's beck and call for his premier. She would rather not see him again considering the last time they were in the same room together, she threw herself at him and he rejected her! Will a second chance at getting to be around each other again after all these years change the way either of then feels?

Review by Dottie - 5 Stars

Part of the Hollywood Hills clinic series but can be read alone. You will see past characters but that will not deter you from this stand alone book. Liam Carter gets ready for his big premier and as luck would have it injures himself. He needs the help of a physical therapist to get him back to his sport. Grace Watson is the best physical therapist but the last person she wants to help is Liam. They have a past and one that still has the ability to keep her as distant from him as possible. The last time they were together she threw herself at him and he totally rejected her. Now its her turn to reject helping him but her boss has other ideas, so she must see him again. A lovely second chance romance that leaves you with a smile.

This is a steamy hot and sizzling story about a Rose Bay socialite her three best friends and the bodyguard that is keeping her safe after her ex-husband Marcus Knight (well nearly ex-husband )gets himself into trouble.

Louella Knight is wealthy and can come across as standoffish she grew up in the country with parents that were anything but loving she is emotionally scared from her childhood but she has made three friends that she loves and would do anything for Jill, Angela and Fritha who we have met Jill and Angela have had their HEA beautifully I must say and now will Louella finally find love and happiness and really good sex with her bodyguard the one with that tattoo and the body to go with it?

Nicholas Aston comes across as a quiet man he shows strength and is most polite and caring and has been keeping Louella safe he is so attracted to Louella but he must keep his job and pleasure separate. He also has some issues from his past and he has secrets that he has kept from Louella for a reason. Her safety is so important to him and with danger lurking when Marcus is kidnapped and a ransom demand is made he moves to the room next to her to keep her safer. How much longer can he keep his thoughts and feelings to himself?

I loved this one from start to finish so many emotions and feelings are jumping off the pages and the sex is hot and sizzling as Louella finally finds love with the right man and of course Nicholas needs Louella as much as she needs him and there are many ups and downs to go through before they get their awesome HEA. The settings are wonderful and the love that these four girls share and what they would do for each other is beautiful, bring on Fritha's story I am sure it is going to be a fab story. Thank you MS Cusack for another awesome sizzler :)

Quite possibly my favorite so far of the Husband Heel series.

Louella is just a person with her name you imagine her to be... the perfect, well behaved everything. Perfect wife, perfect life, perfect smile... but like the saying goes, those who smile the hardest are usually the ones falling apart and hiding the truth from the world so everyone's outside looking in view of perfection isn't shattered.

I loved seeing another side to Louella and what really makes her tick. Her story was thoroughly enjoyable and the pages sweep by so fast. Nick was an awesome match and was written with such greatness you're smiling away without even knowing it. I love how the four friends feature prominently and with each story it feels like you know them not only more but almost wish you were in their crazy circle.

Very much looking forward to #4

ouise Cusack has been writing a series about Jill, Angela, Louella and Fritha. When you are in trouble, or happy about something, or want someone to trust you can call one of the other 3 and be able to trust them with what you share.
Louella Knight has been married and is the perfect wife and perfect hostess but she has a secret really not known who to trust. Her husband came out with a huge shock announcement and then divorce and throws her life into something she never expected.
A death threat makes her hire a bodyguard, Nick Aston and he challenges her. She does do an experience that was very emotional for her and actually upset her physically.
Then Nick eventually lets Louella know he cares for her and if he has to he is willing to give up being her body guard.
Louise Cusack does an awesome job and each book is someone’s story – like this one is Louella’s story. Enjoy and you won’t be disappointed.

"Husband Heel (Husband Series Book 3" by Louise Cusask is part of her series books and best read as part of the series but can also be a read alone. Right now this one is my favorite of the three books since it gives us the perceived strong female, Louella Knight, who is a beautiful socialite. Her perfect, detailed world turns a little chaotic when her husband wants a divorce. Then in comes bodyguard, Nicholas Aston (Nick), because of a death threat. Nick seems to know what Louella needs and wants amidst the danger.

Husband Heel by Louise Cusack is Book 3 of the Husband Series.

Louella Knight was a huge surprise! She was so prim and proper that I never expected her to be so fun and playful. She came apart (literally!) in her bodyguard Nick Aston's arms.

Nick is a sensitive guy and he is totally swoon-worthy. The ultimate romantic hero!

Highly recommended for all readers of romance.

Husband Heel by Louise Cusack is the third book in the “Husband” series and is Louella’s story. It is an amazing story about a woman learning to live life fully with a wonderful man’s help, and of course her three girlfriends are with her every step of the way.

There is much more to Louella than meets the eye and Nicholas is just the man to unlock her secrets. Louella employed Nick as her bodyguard after her ex-husband got into trouble but he becomes far more important to her than she ever expected.

I absolutely loved this book and recommend it to anybody who loves great stories. Louise Cusack is a brilliant writer who brings her characters to life and pulls you into their stories. I can’t wait to read Fritha’s story next!

Review by Dottie - 5 Stars

Book three in her fantastic "Husband series". Figuring book three what could this author possibly come up with after the first two. An incredible story and one that shows are truly magnificent talent. Louella Knight only allows people to see her as a strong determined women with no weaknesses, where in reality she is falling apart at the seams. The only ones who seem to truly understand her and what she is going through is her girlfriends, and least until her bodyguard Nicholas steps in. He is what keeps her from losing it totally, and also is responsible for her believing in herself as a women. He brings out the best of her emotionally and sexually and he is truly hot. Where Marcus keeps her from believing what she is capable of Nicholas brings out all that she is and more. An in depth study of how someone can truly find out about themselves whether right or wrong decisions. Can't wait for the next in series . A truly entertaining read.

Was totally hooked by the page one where we meet Sofia, being brave enough to know she needs to leave her current lover Nik, she’s getting attached and she knows that breaks all the rules.  And break up they do which is all well and good until Nik’s security detail reveals to him she’s pregnant!

Nik isn’t any ordinary person, he’s Prince Nikandros Constantinides of Akathinia.  A tragic accident claims the life of his brother and he’s forced to go back home where he’s then made King because of his father’s poor health.  Nik struggles with this, this wasn’t in the plan, he wasn’t raised to be king… he belongs in New York where he shines at what he does.  Finding out about Sofia he knows what he has to do – bring her back and make Sofia Queen and have his country’s heir grow up as one of his own.

And they all lived happy ever after!  Ha hah, no no no, Nik’s country is upset by neighboring war which is threatening and Nik’s also upset the family and the countess the family said he had to marry.  No way, not now that Sofia is pregnant.  And Sofia, well the last thing she wants to be is Queen of anything except her emerging fashion line.

A wonderfully told tale of two strong and likeable characters and a true testimony of Jennifer Hayward's wonderful tale telling which I absolutely adore.  I love how the story takes me away to a wonderful world and I like how the beginning was so unique.  You never read stories where the heroine marches in and insists on breaking up.  I absolutely loved the concept.

Well loved and I'm looking forward to the future installments.

"Carrying The King's Pride" by Jennifer Hayward is classic Harlequin at it's best. Prince Nikandros Constantinides and Sofia Ramirez are having a discrete affair. Feeling that Nik is getting tired of their trysts Sofia decides to break things off with him, but on the same night they have one last fling which results in her becoming pregnant. The only problem is that Nik is engaged to someone from a neighboring city that would help Akathinia become a more productive city. Beautifully written and has us rooting for this relationship.

Nik and Sofia's affair does not have a long life. at least that is what they know. Fate, however decrees something else altogether.

With a baby on the way all plans rush out the window with the future of the Kingdom changed drastically.

Though, for the baby, both Nik and Sofia re ready to settle down but at the cost of their own happiness.

Filled with angst and killing the desires of the heart for the most part, this is a story of to people who finally learn of what really is important in life and once someone has that settled, all else follows

Sophia Ramirez was seeing Prince Nikandros Constantinides from Akathinia. Sophia and Nik both held jobs in New York. Sophia knew she had to make this the last night with Nik as she could sense he was about to and she wanted to have the upper hand.

It was later that he discovered his brother had died and he needed to take over the responsibility of taking over the crown that his brother had held and also Nik's father had collapsed after the accident of Nik's brother.

She was on the pill and so for this last night she asked Nik not to use protection. Later she went to the doctor and discovered she was pregnant. Nik had found out even though he was not in New York. Nik went to New York to discuss this with Sophia and he rushed her off to Akathinia.
It was there that he called off what was to be his engagement and became engaged to Sophia. Since the baby would be the heir to the throne and she was given the choice of either marry him or go back to New York alone without her baby.

There was troubled times between Nik and his father and also troubled time in the area around Akathinia and the nearby land. Nik fears that Sophia had gotten pregnant on purpose and since he was not a trusting person it made for a very difficult time.
Jennifer Hayward writes a very awesome love story and one about trust and how to trust and taking responsibility.

This is the first book of a three part series called Kingdoms and crowns and what fantastic start. Sofia Ramirez is having an affair with Prince Nikandros Constantinides, but she knows his relationships have an end by date. She is falling in love with him, so decides to protect herself from the hurt of him leaving her so makes the decision to end it herself. Sounds like a good idea until they end up in bed together for one last time. Sofia doesn't know that soon after their last night, Nikandros is called home to Akathinia to rule as his brother, who was to be the next in line for the throne, is killed in an accident and his father the King has collapsed from the news . So you figure he goes home and becomes King and Sofia goes her way. However if you have never read Jennifer Hayward you should because she writes fantastic stories and if you think this is one of those that have them having one last night, she gets pregnant and they are forced to marry for the child and so that's the end. That is not happening and you are wrong because, she writes a heartfelt story about a man who is emotionally destroyed by his brothers death a country in crisis, that he must secure as well as take care of a women who is pregnant and carrying a future heir and at the same time , deal with all the road blocks that can make or break a future king . Ms. Hayward always has such a way with words that one will always stand out and make the reader smile. When Sofia wants to feel she is a part of Nik's life she takes you on a journey with the future King who fears that she deliberately got pregnant to capture him, and a headstrong woman who he wants to come to his country , marry and raise their child and continue as they were. Sofia wants to feel she is a part of his life and will not continue as they were until they truly understand each other and what each wants. Nik's question "Define understand" is just the beginning a fantastic journey, with this book. Loved it and can hardly wait to read the next two. Would give it more than 5 stars if I could.

New York City Docs is a series about four flatmates and friends sharing an apartment trying to be the best they can be at the prestigious West Manhattan Saints Hospital.  Surgeon, Rivals... Lovers is Kimberlyn's story.

An incredibly descriptive beginning leads the way to an edge of your seat emergency on the side of the road.  Kimberlyn whispers the steps through so she can do her job to the best of her ability and not be distracted with memories of her own past trauma.  Sprinting to the scene and assisting is Enzo, aka, Dr Chisel Jaw.  They work tirelessly on the scene and it's soon revealed both parties are surgical rivals... about to start battling it out in the residency program both vying for the same fellowship.
Surgeon, Rivals... Lovers is a fast paced and full of action story where I was so on the edge of my seat with everything going on.  Not just the story fits the fast paced category but the hustle of the hospital, the drive of the Drs desperately trying to climb the ladder, battling out every surgery and anything that may impress their superior.  Spending so much time together, even though they're rivals, Kimberlyn and Enzo can't fight their attraction to each other and this just adds to the chaos around them.
Fabulous medical romance.  I'm taking deep breaths, much like the ones you take after sprinting because that's how wrapped up I became in the story.  Sad to reach the last page.
An awesome addition to the 4 book series.

What happens when two very determined Doctors are aiming to win the fellowship offered in trauma surgery at a top New York hospital the sparks fly in more ways than one.

When Dr Kimberlyn Davis and Dr Enzo DellaTorro first meet at a road accident that has them both working hard to save someone's life and taking each other in, they are both impressed with each other's doctoring skills but there is something else there as well but both of these people have been through a lot in their lives and with sparks flying and getting hotter who is going to win or is falling in love with each other going to change how they feel.

This is a great story that will have you turning the pages it is emotional and sensual as both Kimberlyn and Enzo open up to each other the banter is great and it will have you smiling I loved the setting New York and a beautiful scene in Central Park will please enormously.

I highly recommend this story for romance readers who love medical stories and love seeing such a great HEA.

4/5 Stars for a great read.

"Surgeons, Rivals.....Lovers" by Amalie Berlin is a quick, medical romance read. Dr. Kimberlyn Davis comes across a accident scene and through her quick resources is able to get an accident victim to the hospital. Dr. Enzo DellaTorro comes upon the scene and isn't too keen that another Dr. is able to diagnose someone before he can.

Both Dr.'s are up for the same position at the hospital. In this story you'll find how the past affects the future, and whether or not they will have a happy ending.

Dr Kinberlyn and Dr Lorenzo (Enzo) are both after the fellowship in Trauma surgery offered by Dr Ootaka.

Enzo had been the top contender till Kimberlyn showed up. Probably even after that as in his own words he does not consider her to be competition or a threat to him getting the fellowship.

They call a truce and stop being rude and mean to each other but it does not stop there. They meet, they talk and feelings develop. They develop to a point till the time they both start hoping the other gets the fellowship or a miracle happens and they both get chosen.

Not giving away the climax in here, but one thing I must mention is that emotional scars do way more harm than any physical scar can to the psyche of a person.

Dr. Kimberlyn Davis had a bad car accident and lost her friend Janie. She had to have several surgeries and deferred her residency to a year. She went to a new hospital where no one knew her and about the accidents. On the way to the hospital the first day she encountered an accident and stopped to help. Within minutes Dr. Enzo Della Torro was there to help her. She was in competition with Enzo for the same trauma surgery position at the hospital. Dr. Davis knew exactly how to take care of the accident victim and road with the ambulance to the hospital. Dr, Takeo Ootaka was the Dr. that took care of Mr. Elliot when the ambulance got him to the hospital and Dr. Ootaka asked Dr. Davis to help in OR.

There was the competition between Kimberlyn and Enzo and sparks were flying also between them. He was intrigued with Kimberlyn’s scars and realized that her scar on her chest meant serious surgery.

You will have to read to find out who gets the position at the hospital, if Kimberlyn and Enzo fall totally for each other. You will not be disappointed in reading this Medical Romance.

Another thoroughly enjoyable read from Amalie Berlin! One of my favorite Harlequin Medical authors and this one doesn't disappoint! Two doctors competing for the same fellowship who can't seem to treat each other like the competition. I liked the hero and heroine, Enzo and Kimberlyn, and was anxious to see who would end up getting the coveted fellowship with Dr. Ootaka. The results didn't disappoint! Looking forward to her next release and highly recommend this one if you enjoy Harlequin's Medical line!

It has been all my pleasure to eventually see Enzo and Kimberlyn reaching their HEA.
